Trashed Trailblazer 2: Work in progress

Wow. Just wow. Pretty much all I gotta say. :dblthumb2:

Hi Bill...

I wish to compliment you on several points:

-Your presentation of your hard detailing-work via this write-up and its accompanying photos.
As has been noted: Nothing beats the "befores and afters"!

-The dedication...the stick to it-ness...that it takes for such an accomplishment (acomm-polish-ment).

-The patience you had in finding the right products/tools for the processes' undertakings.

-And the acceptance of the limitations that this vehicle's paint afforded toward its correction.

IMHO: You should take pride in this project.
I know that there are those of us that do share in this pride for you...myself included.

I often wondered, when my detailing days were o'er,
What I'd do: When my vehicles became an eyesore.
Now I know: To whom to go...then, and forevermore.
Just remember Bill, (My Good Man) that I am poor.

:)

Bob

Thanks, Bob!

I had two gentlemen and fellow Autogeek forum members offer to help me on this project;

1. 2old2change

2. wright

I really wish both of these guys could have been there to help and offer advice, but this is just something I had to tackle on my own...for my own experience. I am grateful that these two fine gentlemen offered to help though. Next time I run into something similar I'll get in touch with them. I'd be honored to have their company on such a project.

Wow, incredible story and pictures for your write up Bill. That is one heck of a transformation! Thanks for sharing with us!

Is this your personal vehicle? I agree that the transformation is outstanding and you could see how this type of restoration would get out of hand for most people where the cost would out weigh even doing it. Bravo.

Hi Bill.

First off. Thanks for the phone conversation yesterday and helping me with a great vision of hope.

Secondly, It's really nice to see this thread and all of it's great photos and documenting text. Great Job there!!

Now onto the project itself....Wow... what a mess that thing was...and what dedication on your part it took to get it done to the point it is now. I think it's great, and a sure display of your fantastic character that you gave thanks to all involved in helping you along the way through this seemingly impossible task, but...it was you that did all the work..

Working your way through this project at the pace you did, no doubt has given you a HUGE step forward in paint correction and detailing ability and experience. A project like this is pretty much a "Dwarf All" type of undertaking that will surely make normal paint corrections seem like a cool breezy walk in the park.

When I was in Maine up at forum member "Bill Buxton's" place and we first talked on the phone, trying to coach you through that test section on the roof of that thing "sight unseen", I knew what kind of project you were involved in, and in no way was I envious of what you had going on there.

You have become such a great friend to me since that day... Through that trashed TrailBlazer project, through the whole trying to rehabilitate "Kinzer", a dog on death row with a sad, sad ending, through my father getting sick, along with your grandfather's passing and now though coping with the loss of my oldest, most dear friend.

I only hope I can be half as helpful to you as you've been to me.

You say you'd have to pass on a project like this trashed TrailBlazer if you'd ever encountered one again, I infrequently am approached about correcting projects nearly as bad and I say "Geez...I'd have to charge you like $5000 to do that." Who knows... it may just be that important sentimentally to someone....and hey...work is work....money is money...

Great job on the TrailBlazer and when the re-polish and coating application is to go down in the spring time, I request that you invite me to drive over there and give you a hand with it. It's a long drive but I want to come meet you in person eventually, and what better way to do that than with a higher purpose than just hanging out. Work scheduling my not permit the trip, but then again when I really "want" to do something....I usually find a way to get it done.

Thanks for everything my friend...TD

Fantastic work! I loved the write up and pictures. Looks like a different Trailblazer. Thank you for taking the extra time to post!

It belongs to my father-in-law and was bought in the earlier state as in the photo's.

My thoughts as well, Dave.

Thank you so much for the kind words.

WOW! Fantastic job Bill, bet you could convince a lot of non detailers that you got a new paint job. Also great job on pictures, really showed how bad it was and how far its come.

Excellent write up and pictures, thanks for posting them!

Outstanding job! Very impressive. You went on a great learning journey.

I hate roofs on suvs.....ugh.

Great write-up, thorough and informative. The before and afters make the thread.

Looks 100x better than the original condition! Keep up the good work and props on having the courage to pick-up a rotary and go at it. Keep up the good work.

Well that was an absolute mess to begin with :wow:. VERY impressive turnaround man :dblthumb2:. Proves to show that you can't go wrong with the Megs combo..... put in the right detailer's hands you get magic! Once more - VERY impressive turnaround :applause:
