lacquer thinner,do not use on plastics or rubber.
 
70% IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) on a microfiber towel. Let is soak for 30 or so seconds and it wipes right off. Do use caution on surrounding areas however.....

I'll chime here to also endorse isopropyl alcohol. I used it to clean year old, dried on, pine pitch from a neighbor's car. Dissolved it right away.
 
Could anyone elaborate a little more on isopropyl alchol to remove tree sap? Do you soak the entire microfiber in it? My hole car has tiny tiny little tree sap spots all over that i removed most with stoners tarminator but cant get it all. So i need to wipe hole car.
 
Stick with alcohol ,lacquer is to be used by pros.

Spray it directly on the sap, let soak for a bit, spray on towel, wipe, repeat until gone, rinse.

Its hard to spray it directly on as there like 1cm spots. Theres 100s on the car they can only be seen if you look closely maybe ill put the alchol in a spray bottle and spray the hole panel then spray microfiber then wipe it.
 
Q-Tip dabbed in rubbing alcohol. Wipe of with waterless wash
 
I'll also throw in for iso alcohol. I let it dwell on the sap for a bit to work its way down and maybe in the sides of the contact area and bam...gone! And Ryan hit on my method for numerous spots.
 
My parents live in the Adirondacks in NY, surrounded by very large white pine trees. Those suckers can drop some sap. Needless to say, it gets everywhere, so removing it can be a part time job in itself. I have a large bag of cotton balls and a bottle of IPA (actually both isopropyl alcohol AND India Pale Ale).

Soak cotton ball in isopropyl alcohol and put it on sap. Let it sit for about 10-15 seconds, then very lightly wipe while pulling up on cotton. This will take care of the heavy stuff. Follow with spray and microfiber to clean up the residual. This has worked for me with cars, boats, furniture and anything else that gets sap bombed. I have been doing this for years without any scratches.

Complete job by pouring bottle of India Pale Ale into a pint glass. Enjoy!
