Truck Appearance Question

Decided to play around on the computer and make my OEM truck rims black.

So, I'm curious as to what all you fellow members think.

Do you like the black rims? Yes or No?

All comments are welcome.

I added some reference pics with how my truck currently looks as well. The black rims are still the OEM's. The front windows will also be getting tinted next year.

This is how the rims will actually look with the coating.

My photos are nothing more than crude photoshop attempts. The actually coating will not be as black and will be more matte like.

I like the look of black wheels on red. I think it looks good. Would you upgrade tires? lift?

The reason I ask is sometimes when I see a stock vehicle with the stock wheels painted, I cant help but think the owner was bored and had extra spray paint in the garage.

If you do it right it'll look nice. Powder coating is a much better option if you like the stock wheels that much. Just my opinion. In the end its your truck, definitely do what YOU like.

No lift and no new tires are in the plans. Just window tint.

I like the look of Black rims on Red trucks. The best way to see if you like the look of Black wheels on your truck is to take one of the wheels off and go to Home Depot and get some Plasti-Dip in an aerosol can. Clean the wheels really good before applying the Plasti-Dip. If you don't like the look simply peel the Plasti-Dip off of the wheels and you will still have the factory finish.

I personally am not a fan of just respraying factory rims. I get the same feeling when I see those cheap knock off plastic covers from walmart thrown on to an old civic.

It just seems like a cheap way to get a customized, or aftermarket look. I say if you want black...buy bigger rims. Otherwise it will just look like you spray painted stock rims...which is what you'll be doing.

I love the look of black rims on just about any color vehicle. I wouldn't go for matte unless you don't mind putting a lot of extra work in to keep them clean. Matte black tends to streak, show dirt alot, and is overall difficult to keep clean.

Personally I think the whole black wheels thing is getting a bit played out, but it can still look pretty nice in the right application.
