If they do this, I may just change all my services to $1, plus mandatory tip of whatever the service price is.

"That will be $1, plus gratuity of $249, thank you."

If your working for tips your probably not paying much into income tax (your paying s.s./medicare)
I wish he would be more clear if tips are to be reported at all or do I just stick it in my pocket and keep moving

I think it would actually require Congress to get it done. I doubt he has a plan. He has concepts of a plan.

They should get rid of income tax and property tax for everyone
Put a sales tax on everything but groceries
Too much cheating on every income level

Im thinking that may get you a personalized visit by the IRS.
Im betting they will anticipate this snd make an exception for “mandatory” tips such as those added automatically to restaurant checks for parties over a certain number. A tip that is mandatory is not a tip IMO.

Get rid of taxes all together, Musk can fund your government, he's already put a down payment on it hasn't he?
It would be interesting to see how much he gives back to charity
I'm not talking about giving free starlink to communities effected my natural disasters
I mean real giving

I'm sure Kurt was joking
(I went back and unliked just in case 😒)
What about he charges a customer 200 for his services and they pay him 250 by check or venmo
How does that work 🤔

I haven't thought of that
Please explain
Maybe it's harder to do that than it used to be, if everyone is using QuickBooks, etc. But back in the old days, Flash, if you were going to hand write some sort of receipt for a customer, nothing kept you from writing a different amount on your copy of the receipt.

Back 100 years ago, a friend and I thought it might be cool to buy a gas station and fix cars, so we looked at a few places for sale. One place he went without me, the guy was working on his second set of books when my friend showed up. He had printed forms and everything, with carbon paper, and he had one he would give to the customer, and then another set he would transcribe everything over at a lower amount, so he was showing the IRS and the state (sales tax) a lower number than what he actually collected.

I guess even today if everything is computerized, if you have someone paying cash, you could always put a lower amount in the computer than what they are actually giving you, and how many people actually get audited, anyway? I don't know what it's like in TN, but here in NJ the state is pretty hard-ass about sales tax, you have to pay it quarterly and they stay on top of you.

The point I'm making is that this is a ridiculous proposal that will never work, he just talks out his ass. He tells people what they want to hear.

If I only showed $1000 income for my business, how would I get a loan for a vehicle or whatever? I report everything because after all the deductions, I need to show a profit or the IRS considers it a hobby.

You mean talking out of his ass like finding 75,000 (of 350,000) exploited immigrant children in less than a week?

I don't understand how anyone could have a problem with this (unless you exploit children)

This puts the tax onus on the common man, when it really should be on the corporations and the 1%. By keeping people on the edge of homelessness (with fake housing shortages, ridiculous rents and property taxes) they create a class of people who have to work for peanuts or they will be homeless if they miss 2 paychecks.

Agree with property tax. You don't even own your property that you think you do. The government will take that property and make you homeless- all you have to do is not pay your property taxes.

This rich pay sales tax just like everyone else.
You can't escape it like you can income Tax (loopholes)

As i said earlier, Groceries (and other necessary expenses) should be exempt for everyone

Another thing
The 1% help keep the majority of us employed.
You start taking away too much of their money they will quit producing
Having said that. The income disparity in this country is grotesque.
Anyone who works 40+ hours per week should be able to purchase a home, drive a decent car and provide for their family without government support
