So in the last year I have officially used 4 (5th on order) different car shampoos. BTW I have used up all the bottles with the exception of 16 ounces left of my Duragloss gallon. Oh, and I have Uber and D114 rinseless in my cabinet too:)

These are the 5 washes I've used:
- Meguiar's Crystal wash (ok for what it is)
-Meguiar's Gold Class wash (getting better)
- Optimum's car wash (awesome)
- Duragloss car wash (awesome)
- Meguiar's Hyperwash (on order with AG, expecting this to be awesome too

Anyone else come to the point where you are torn between choosing just one car wash?

I have been 100% happy with Meguiar's, Optimum, and Duragloss car soaps.

I'm thinking I may just keep two or three different washes in my inventory. Foolish or just par for the course for you guys and gals?

I keep a total of three - Optimum, CarPro Reset and WGURW. It's always fun to try new products but these 3 work and work well so no need to change for me.

What was better about the Optimum and the Duragloss over the Megs Gold Class?

Gentler and seems to not dry out my hands as much as Gold Class. Gold Glass is very good, I just feel optimum and Duragloss are a tad better.

I agree regarding Meg's Crystal Wash - it's okay but nothing special. Decent for the price.

I've gone through a bottle of Turtle Wax Ice Wash & Wax and I was pretty happy with that. Lots of suds, smells great, easy to find. I am anxious to try out a couple of the more 'specialty' car shampoos though.

I just bought a 64 oz jug of Wolfgang Auto Bathe while it's way on sale. Anxious to use it this weekend. It smells incredible (like bubble gum).

Optimum.......................

Another vote for Optimum. Also Like ONR.

One Meg's I've always liked is their Ultimate wash & wax. Works good as a maintenance wash, leaves a nice shine, and smells very good.

But I think the Optimum cleans a little better.

Ultima and Reset are my two most often reached for shampoos. The both rinse clean. If I want carnuba, I'll apply it after the wash.

I would say try the ones rec'd a lot like you're doing. If you find one you really like, go with it. If your going to keep a few, I would concentrate on specialities. Not a bunch that do basically the same thing.

Something like Reset; maybe some P21s Total Auto Wash. Shampoos that complement your regular and allow you to handle more situations better.

After using 32 oz of my gallon of Meg's HW I am really happy. HW rinses very easily, cleans great, and the smell is pleasant. I like to use at a 256:1 ratio.

So would you say Hyper Wash is on par, almost, or better than Optimum and Duragloss in your opinion?
Have you ever tried Megs Shampoo Plus?

it's the most economical and it doesn't contain (iirc) gloss enhancers. just a clean soap, with outstanding value. all three soaps mentioned only require no more than 2 ounces (or less) for a bucket wash even if that. if you're looking for a wash that has more cleaning abilities, i would choose duragloss and optimum. one thing i noticed using optimum with a foam lance, it seems to dwell the longest. all three are great, you can't go wrong with any of them...

I went nuts a while ago when I visited the Chemical Guys Factory store. They had just about every shampoo on the dent and blem shelf near the front door.

I got Mr. Pink, Honeydew, Maxi-Suds, and one other I can't remember the name of. I also have several from Meguiars, one from Zaino - the Z-7 (still the best smelling wash I have ever used, also very slick). Plus everything that shows up on the discontinued shelf at Walmart, Costco, Target and all the local auto stores.

And I have to say they all get the crud off the car. Some do last a whole lot longer in the bucket. And none of them strip off any wax I have on the surface.

But I keep coming back to my favorite. And it's not really a wash. It's Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax

Haven't tried shampoo plus. I think all three washes, OPT, Meg, and DG are all a coin toss. Here is my opinion and it will change tomorrow:)

Meg's HW and Optimum's = best value, leave nothing behind, maybe slight edge to Optimum's for cleaning ability.

Duragloss = best at leaving a little more gloss, but possibly could effect LSP (hasn't, but possible) with the gloss enhancers.

YMMV:)

Cool. I knew once I saw your post I'd finally get to the nitty gritty behind what could possibly be so special about both the Optimum and the Duragloss.. Your reply makes perfect sense. They're both overrated. Lol. IMO all car wash soap excluding the bottom of the barrel selections are basically pretty darn equal.. Some of them smell much better than others, some claim to contain "wax", others claim to not alter your lsp and rinse clean... But as far as "lubricity" being far greater than the other, yea ok.. Name me a respectable soap that sucks at lubricity? It doesn't exist.

And no, Megs Crystal Wash or whatever it's called isn't a valid answer, because who would opt for that anyways? When it's all said and done, Soap is Soap. Scent may as well be the most important factor in ones decision. [I happen to think Shampoo Plus smells amazing]

Just my 2 cents:)

I have been having issues with my soap. Mr. Pink from chem guys for some reason leaves a bit of a residue when it dries. Also, I have tried maxi suds and it destroys my paint with leftover residue…Could it be my soft water causing the soap to leave a residue?? Could it just be the soap not being of high quality? I'm on the market for a good soap that won't leave behind any residue/washes completely off. Any suggestions??

I have 3 on hand. Meguiars Hyper Wash, Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss, and Chemical Guys Mr Pink.

I have Meg's ultimate wash n wax which does fair with a pleasant smell and is easy to get locally. Have adams shampoo which I think is much better than the Meg's it feels slicker when the mit glides to me. Xmt I got in a mystery box does what a soap is meant to do but can't comment on the price since it is discontinued. I have tried a few others that were local in a pinch but as of this point the best I have found is the adams shampoo

Cannot stand Mr. Pink... was so glad I bought only 16 oz. I kinda' like Poorboy's World Super Slick shampoo..... honestly, the Meguiar's Gold Class is very good especially for the price. I've got a bottle of Optimum shampoo in a couple more months. I'm going to stick to one bottle at a time vs hop-scotching from one brand to another.
