Turtle Wax Tire Coat Warning

I wonder how it is going to start coming off in time? Never used it, but I think i've read that TufShine just starts dulling.

I wonder if the Turtle Wax coating will also start dulling in time or it will start peeling off.

If it starts dulling then I think it might be a good choice, but if it starts peeling off like skin that dried after being sunburned. Then it might be a pain to deal with.

Do you have any pictures of your tires Kevin?

Seems like coatings are starting to pop up more and more. Pretty exciting :)

hmm... I do have a family member with an old beat up car. She did say I can always try new things on it. (safely of course)

Maybe I'll go pick some up, do a thorough cleaning with D143 and apply it to her tires. and just keep everyone updated on how it is going.

The good and bad thing is the car never gets washed, I don't really want to spend my time on a neglected car, that most likely will always be neglected. I guess I could do her the favor of washing her car everyone in a while to keep everyone updated on how it is holding up.

but more on this experiment later.

I would be wary of a product that was acrylic based for your tires. I imagine over time that it would lose flexibility and begin to peel. When this happens you get the 1.5 hour removal job. :xyxthumbs:

There is an acrylic based product for homeowner use to help shine hardwood floors. I can't believe it is still sold as it is awful, peels and bubbles after repeated applications and is very difficult to remove. You have to use ammonia glass cleaner and a floor buffer to get this junk off.
 
TW is synonymous with garbage. Is anyone really surprised?

Tires looked great after. Horrible before.
 
Ran into this stuff before. Even full strength goop off does not remove it. Chemicals from my experience do not break it down you need manual agitation... and a lot of it.

Ended up taking my 3000 PSI pressure washer and a 15° nozzle to them to power it off. Worked pretty good.

Just because you think "TW" is garbage not every single person would agree.
Sure they don't have much to offer but two I like, their rinse-wash and this new coating.
 
I'm sure I could remove the coating if I wanted.
Hoping it wears off like Tuf Shine.
And how would you remove Tuf Shine if you wanted to?

Like I said, my tires never looked this good, I'll take my chances with it for only $11.00.

I have found tuff shine very difficult to remove. I could barely put a dent in it with the tuff shine tire cleaner. I gave up and just recoated with more tuff shine.

Keep us posted. They do look nice. I should just try this on the tires I have now since I have my new ones going on soon.

I am going try this on my FX. It should be difficult to remove. Perhaps I am missing something. If it removed easily it would likely not hold up.
 
I am gonna try that stuff Kevin hopefully I can find some locally and use it this weekend or next.
 
This would be good for my winter tires, never will have to worry about keeping them "clean"
 
I will try this on my winter tires...when I get them in the late fall. Anything that takes that much work to remove should be worth looking into.

I just bought two kits of this stuff. I am going to apply it to my FX over the weekend. I am excited to see the results.
