I worked on a 12 year old Ford Escort that had a very dirty interior. I started off with Ultima Interior Shampoo. I spray it on, agitated it with a brush, and wiped it off. It definitely looked better, but no where near where I wanted it. I even did a a second pass with really no change. I didn't have any diluted OPC with me, only un-diluted. I decided to give it a try. I used the same method. As you can see, OPC clearly cleaned the surface better. I could actually see the dirt coming off when I was scrubbing with OPC, I didn't get this effect with Ultima. I decided to call Dr. G to make sure that I could use OPC straight without issue. He told me absolutely! He also told me that he uses OPC straight all the time, but it can be diluted to be more cost effective, obviously. Even at 3:1 OPC, will do a great job on dirty interiors. However, since cost isn't a huge issue to me, I like to make quick work, and if I need to use OPC straight, I will not hesitate. Time is money! OPC is GRREEEEAAATTT!!!! :dblthumb2:

Onto the pics, I really don't think I need to tell you which is which...

No problem, Tim! :dblthumb2: It isn't the cheapest stuff, but well worth the money!

I bought some over the winter and haven't used it yet. I see numerous recommendations for dilution ratios for different tasks. I will only be using on my own car - what would be a recommended dilution ratio that I could use for most applications (3:1)? I don't want to have different bottles laying around. Do most people just mix enough for the task at hand?

I don't want to have different bottles laying around.

If you're car is relatively clean, you can use it on the interior at 10:1 and still be effective. Also remember, OPC is a great tire, wheel, wheel well, engine, and paint cleaner. Those areas would need a stronger dilution. 3:1 should be very sufficient. I'd use 3:1 for everything if you only want one bottle of solution. I'm using OPC un-diluted on everything here on out. Sure, it might be way overkill(still safe) at times and less cost effective, but I'd rather have something stronger than weaker at all times! Like you, I don't want to carry 3 bottles around when I can use one. Most people will think I'm crazy, though.

Mark, what about that PM you sent me regarding OPC?

Wow! Crazy results, thanks for posting. It's been on my list for a while, just waiting for my Megs APC to run out

I totally agree with your assessment, Mark... OPC has fast become one of my favorite APCs to use for a great many tasks. :props:

Thanks for sharing Mark, this was definitely useful information for me.

hey mark have you used the product on carpets and upulstery?

Hey mark, nice review, thanks for sharing it. However I really don't get it. Not to be an a$$, but to me that interior really wasn't all that dirty... Here is a before and after (of what I would consider a very filthy interior). This was using Megs APC+ at 6:1...I don't think i need to tell you which one is which either ...:poke:

John, I use a dedicated carpet/upholstery cleaner. Although, OPC works well from the couple times I've used it.

Why are you apologizing to me Mark? :dunno:

Btw: You do realize you are comparing an all purpose cleaner to a dedicated interior cleaner right? I love OPC and its the only APC I currently use but any APC would probably outperform any dedicated interior cleaner on most surfaces/most stains.

Maybe you are referring back to my UISG review where in an update I used OPC 2:1 to clean a rubber mat and it was harder than when I used the UISG. If you will remember I was shocked that was the case as the OPC would obviously be expected to clean easier. I think I made special note that on that particular stain and surface those were the results I got. What can I say. That was the truth.

Oh by the way, I meant to say thanks for the writeup and pictures!

It's not rocket science..lol :dunno:

It's a good thing it's not...lol! As you are comparing an all purpose cleaner to a dedicated interior cleaner. As has already been stated one would definitely expect any APC to outperform any dedicated interior cleaner on most surfaces and most stains...:dunno:... I generally use a dedicated interior cleaner for most all vehicles, but if I come across a real nasty interior I will step it up to an APC...

When I apologized I was just giving you a hard time because I know you're a big fan of Ultima. I guess I was in a bit of a joking mood yesterday. :dblthumb2:

I absolutely do realize that I'm comparing an APC with a dedicated interior cleaner. Both can be used to clean interiors, so why not compare them? You would think that a dedicated cleaner of any type should do a better job than an all purpose product, regardless of chemical make-up.
