If you haven't already, watch this video.
Also, pad diameter and pad thickness will be big factors. On a tool like you have, pad rotation is key.
The UC is actually a very capable compound, I'd work on your technique, (watch the video, the Porter Cable I show is much like the tool you have), and pad choice.
Also, the DA Troubleshooting Guide covers things like how large an area to buff, how many section passes etc. But this is also in the video.
