Ultimate compound doing nothing for me

Just to chime in,

Read through the most common problems and solutions here,

DA Polisher Trouble Shooting Guide

If you haven't already, watch this video.

Also, pad diameter and pad thickness will be big factors. On a tool like you have, pad rotation is key.

The UC is actually a very capable compound, I'd work on your technique, (watch the video, the Porter Cable I show is much like the tool you have), and pad choice.

Also, the DA Troubleshooting Guide covers things like how large an area to buff, how many section passes etc. But this is also in the video.

Well I marked my backing plate and had another go this time I put more downward pressure and went slower and I got amazing results I don't even think I need to polish it's looking so good the ceiling light looks crystal clear in the reflection now.

Nice!

Polishing is not hard to learn, but you really need those first few sessions to develop a good technique.

And with every new pad/product combo, you need to tweak it a little bit.

IMO, that's where the fun is. :)

Try thinner 5 inch pad first or the low cut nap wool you will get the most out of machine super slow arm speed your at8mm throw compared to 21mm long stroke that your movement is is 38% percent. UC is great finisher but is only a medium cut. You need to upgrade sonax cutmax or Griot’s fast correction cream really cut but don’t dry out they are very nice products.
