UPGP VS. Opti-Seal

I will be purchasing a WOWA sealant on my next order and I am interested in getting your impressions of the differences between these two products.

I am extremely pleased with everything I have purchased from both manufacturers and I don't believe this is a case where I could go "wrong" with either one.

What are the differences in appearance, ease of application and durability?

I prefer the look of a wax compared to the look of a sealant and whichever product I choose will be topped with Optimum Car Wax (My Favorite)

Corey was kind enough to send me detailed instructions for the UPGP based on his experience and I am ready to give one of these a try.
 
I have Opti Seal myself, and my girlfriends brother has UPGP. I stayed at their house for 3 days about a month ago while he did a winter prep detail on his Mazda 3. Each day he applied a coat of UPGP. I could feel a noticeable difference in slickness with each coat. The end result was insanely slick and glossy and seemed to be well protected. I do not get the same results out of my Opti Seal, although it does seem to bead well. I think I'll be buying some UPGP soon.
 
I have both and the UPGP is far superior in my opinion. It is easier to apply and looks far better. As zliegen mentioned multiple coats look visibly better and get slicker & slicker. Durability wins also. Although I am a huge fan of Optimum Car Wax I suggest two coats of UPGP (over 12-24 hours) and evaluate. You just might not even want to use the OCW!

The other is delegated to door jambs & painted under hood areas now. It's good but UPGP whups up on it in every category.

Is it really easier to apply? I never actually watched him apply the coats of UPGP I just saw it afterwords. Opti Seal is so easy to apply that I cant imagine anything even being easier. What makes UPGP easier to apply in your opinion?
 
Opti-Seal only acts up when the surface isn't prepped well for me. If I do the prep right, the application of anything is easy. Opti-Seal and UPGP are both just wipe on walk away.

Opti Seal always gave me problems with smearing/streaking and I would have to go back over the cars & wipe them down most of the time. I figured that was just part of in spite of the wipe on & walk away claim. No, I did not over apply. In fact I was on my second bottle (used it on lots of vehicles) prior to buying the Ultima product. It never smeared, not even one single time, and looked better once done. That is my reasoning, others may find just the opposite. Microfiber covered sponges were (and still are) used in all applications.

Very interesting, thanks to all for the feedback. It looks like UPGP is in the lead.
 
I have both and really see no difference in the looks or how they apply. They are both extremely easy to apply and will not streak if done correctly. Even if they do streak all you would need to do is give it a wipe down after it has dried. I have UPGP on one car and Opti-Seal on the other, I'm super impressed with both products. Flip a coin and you wont go wrong ;)

I couldn't agree more.

Since that is the case, go with the cheaper one.

I do think that OS has a very slight edge in the depth department, but any differences between the two products are minor at best.
 
i have both and upgp is far slicker. imo, you made the right choice.

Actually, I have not made a choice yet. Slickness is nice but not a major factor for me in a LSP. I am more concerned with protection, ease of application and appearance.

Either product will serve me well and I will probably buy both to see for myself how the two compare.

My UPGP just came in from UPS yesterday so I'm going to do a comparison with Opti-seal on my car today. Hopefully I'll have it posted by tomorrow, I want to wait 24 hours so that the sealants have time to cross-link and cure, then I can truly compare the two.

Preliminary findings:
Shows Opti-seal being just barely easier to apply. Opti-seal seems to flash off faster for me and the spots where it was too thick are less noticeable than UPGP. UPGP is still easier than any wax I've used, even my beloved DP Max Wax doesn't hold a candle to UPGP in ease of use (but its close).

UPGP feels slicker after 2 hours of curing, than Opti-Seal does after multiple coats and 24 hours.

That's pretty much spot on to what I found other then I think they both apply just as easy as the other.
 
I too thought that Opti-seal streaks all the time until I used a mf applicator pad!!

With a mf applicator pad, there's no streaking at all!! :D
Its great cuz it saves my mf towels from wax/sealant residue which can be a pain to get off!

Foam wax pad works well for me. I'll apply it in a circular motion then go back over it in a strait line.
