Uploading pictures question

Just for the sake of rambling on ... (much like beating a dead horse).

There are two ways to post a picture.
  1. Upload a photo onto AG's forum.
  2. Link a photo from another location.
If you upload a photo by using the "Manage Attachments" button under Attach Files, you are putting a photo onto AG server (storing it there). If you use a link, obviously another server is storing the photo (like Photobucket) and you are just creating a link to this forum. Harley, if you would like to upload a photo to AG without putting it on Photobucket you can still get the full picture to show, it's just a little tricky.
  • Upload your photo as in the past.
  • After it uploads, right click on the attachment.
  • Select Properties
  • Right click and copy the Address of the attachment
  • Then, back in your post, use the little square icon that looks like a yellow picture frame with mountains in it. Paste your attachments Address in this window.
  • The end result should look like
or you'll see the picture appear.
I find it easiest to use the little pic icon all the time, just entering the photo's address in the box (no matter where the pic is stored). Just make sure after you copy an address from Photobucket or wherever, it should only have http:// in the space once ... followed by the URL address.

I wonder how much sense that made?
Well it made plenty i can print out your intructions and have them in hand when i want too do it yor way. Thanks

it depends on personal preference, I personally prefer to see thumbnail images, and click on the images I want to see. sometimes someone will post 10-15 images of multiple fender shots, that are all very similar. it can take awhile to scroll through them, when they fill the screen or window. being a photographer, I can never see too many images, good ones or not-so-good ones... so... I look at them all... to add to the confusion every camera produces a different size of file, depending on how you are shooting... and some cameras do not allow any changes of file size. example my Sigma SD10 shoots a file size of 2268 x 1512 at a resolution of 240, when viewed in Photoshop it is 9.45" x 6.3" a 9.8 meg file, and the other extreme my phone camera a Sanyo 5600 shoots a file size of 1280 x 960 at a res. of 72, when this file is viewed in Photoshop it is 17.77" x 13.33" a 3.5 meg file... in my opinion both files are far too big to post, to stay "bandwidth friendly" I have never seen a moderator say anything, so it may not matter here at AG, many forums have more strict rules of file sizes allowed, to save bandwidth... larger files are more important for printing purposes, and not needed for web viewing...
I will add a couple different images all sized differently so everyone can see the difference, hopefully. these images were uploaded to the gallery and liked to this post, as described above...

you can go the the gallery to see the different file sizes if you are curious... just my opinion, the smaller files are more friendly, and work well for posting here...

in case you are curious, the car in the photos is my neighbors car, it was his grandmothers first car, he rebuilt it from the ground up, it was completely dismantled and rebuilt a five year project...

Well thank you very much for the info and yes that car is very nice indeed and that it was in his family is so rare what a keeper .
