Veterans Check in

50,000 wounder/dead troops in three days. This would equate to about ~six million today. This is truly a stunning/visual awareness to our past fathers battles.

How is this possible? 50,000 wounded/dead then would be 50,000 wounded/dead now. I wasn't aware inflation applied to humans.

If you account for the population size back then, vs. the population of today. 50,000 People is the equivalent of about ~6million today from a death/injured toll perspective. It is more based on a perspective comparison from back then vs today in numbers. Of course they do a better job of explaining it in the documentary..

Yes, and Home Depot does this too. I always get the 10% and it really adds up over time. :props:

I didn't know that... What card do you need? DD214?
What's a Vet card? Is it active service or past service?

It's active or retired. They tried to tell me one time that my ID was invalid because the sample card was a retiree card. I had to explain to them what a new military ID looked like. Lol.

Its all about percentages of population. For example, population 10 and 6 die. Population 10,000,000 and 6,000,000 die. Same percentage dead.

50,000 dead/wounded is still 50,000 dead/wounded. Just because the world is more populated doesn't change the number. 4,000+ in the current war will be 4,000+ decades from now.

I understand completely what you are saying, and agree. I was just pointing out what they were trying to say.

I didn't know that either. I have all my papers but don't recall getting any Vet card when I got out. I'll have to try to find out how to get the card.

I did learn that Apple Computer has a special on-line store for military and veterans. Apple products are typically never discounted.

RE: 'Vets Card'

I asked the lady at my local Lowe's about this and she said it was the card you get from VA. I explained a lot of vets are NOT in the VA system. She then went on to say, "Well, your Legion or VFW card." Again I said, there are vets that are not in any 'organization'.

I then asked about using a copy of a DD214...She then showed me her 'guidance sheet' and it said a DD214 was not acceptable! I kind you not! This was in Nov of 2009.

Go figure.

Bill

I should add, she was very nice about this...her hubby was military, so she did understand my confusion.

I am glad to hear the lights are still shining bright in your garage Jim. If you can send me a pic of them one day I would love to see how you layed them out.
Did a rectangle 1 horizontal on each end of the garage and 3 vertical on each on the sides. . 8 x 2 T8's is an amazing upgrade over 2 x 2 T12's. I will try to send you a pic. Seriously about a 10X improvement.
