Hello Everyone,

Just purchased a 2012 vw jetta tdi, black, brand new. Went ahead and clayed, then did some polishing with meguairs ultimate polish with a white CCS LC to clean up the paitn as there were some swirls from the dealership. To me the paint seems really soft, as I'am used to dodge paint from my previous cars. There was some marring left behind. Also it seems to swirl really easy. Is this a sign of soft paint? If it is could a switch to a black CCS to get the job done? anyone else have experience with newer VW paint?

Wow that's strange. The paint on my 2007 Passat (Granite Green) and my wife's 2012 Golf (non metallic black) both are like a rock. Used HD Polish on an Orange Buff & Shine pad to clean up the Golf a little when new and it finished down LSP ready.

This is a back trunk of a VW Jetta..No marring here. What did you use that marred?
 
strange, this is my first black car, from my short experience, this car is really really hard to keep clean. I was using meguairs ultimate polish, with a pc, maybe it wasn't marring, just have to get used to black i guess.
 
I also just purchased a 2012 black VW Jetta gas and I thought the same thing when I washed it. After the first wash it has tiny little swirls in it now. I am going to clay it (i should have done this right away) and try some test spots and see what happens. So I was thinking about a gray pad with some WG finishing glaze. And then top it 2 or 3 times with WGDPS. If someone has some experience with soft black paint please chim in! Thanks
 
yes i know exactly what you mean. I use the 2 bucket method, double grit guards, meguairs wash mitt, leaf blower then meguairs water magnet, and somehow i'm still seeing swirls.

This is the 2012 Golf I mentioned in previous post--it has since been washed a few times and basically is still swirl free.

I take care of three recent VW's on a regular basis, '10 Passat, 11 Jetta TDI, 11 Sportwagen TDI. All have very hard paint. So hard I have gotten very sloppy with my wash techniques and haven't noticed any marring.
 
I have detailed about 6 VW's lately, and all were as hard as nails...
