The combo of crystal mist and SSll?

Personally, I wouldn't top a carnauba with a sealant(aquawax is a sealant).

I understand your thinking on carnauba with a sealant over it, and it is something I really never do either. However, AquaWax as a topper is phenomenal IMO. I have topped many things with it and use it as a drying aid every time I wash. It works great and I have see no poor side effects. I love this as a topper/drying aid.

im kind of new at all of this ... i had swirls on the vette when i bought it and found this website ... read the thread where matt got the red z06 looking better than new ... thats where i was introduced to the 105/205 twins and the different pads to correct it ...

that leads me to where i am now ... car looks so much better, almost like a sheet of glass ... i probably have 40-50 hours in the swirl removal during the course of the winter ... had to make 3-4+ passes on every panel ... from what im gathering now is, i need a polish, carnauba wax and or a sealant? ... is this correct? ... i bought the aqua wax because it was cheap and i thought i used that to maintain my work? ...

im new, so set me straight ... thanks again for everyones input ...

I would not worry about picking up the AW. It is a GREAT product. Use it as a drying aid and I can pretty much guarantee you will not be disappointed. Just do not use it heavily as it could possibly streak.

I think he would have been better of with using pinnacle crystal mist or pinnacle spray wax, but I do agree, AW is a great product, generally speaking.

I have not tried those yet. I really need to give them a try.

If you finished out with the M205 you could re-polish with the Menzerna PO85RD with a soft finishing pad to take the clear coat to it's maximum potential for clarity and perfection in smoothness. Initial gloss comes from smoothness, a good wax, sealant or coating will maximize smoothness and thus maximize gloss.

Depth, reflections and richness of color come from making the clear layer as clear as possible and clarity comes from removing as many of the defects as possible out of the paint.

You can stop now if you like the results from the M205 too...

Next, seal the paint with either a wax, paint sealant or coating.

3-Categories: Waxes, Paint Sealants and Coatings

Some people like to apply a sealant first and then apply a wax over it, the idea being to get the protection and longevity of the sealant first, and then the warmth and depth of a wax.

Coatings are real popular right now too and doing some research or starting a thread and asking for opinions and feedback would probably get you a lot of replies.

:)

^ Agreed preparation is the key!

The M105/M205 combo is great for correcting and clearing up the paint.
IMHO Menz PO106 or PO85 will increase the shine another 10 to 20%.
The Menz rep at AG's Detail Fest said to me that...
"PO106 has the exact powder as PO85 but there's more of it in PO106."
Recently I have been using PO106 and have obtained excellent results.

After polishing the paint the LSP selection is way to numerous to list.
I really like the Pinnacle Souveran look but IMHO it seems to attracts dust.
If a wipe here and there doesn't bother you then it's a deep warm product!
The list of sealants and waxes all comes down to "what look you like best."

i got the pinnacle (combo), it comes with the Pinnacle Crystal Mist Carnauba Detail Spray ............

i will use the AW on the mustang and jeep ......

It all depends on the location and the size of the car you will be doing. Location is mostly important.

........... is $300 too much?

If it is at my location $300 would be in the ball park.
Again it depends on size...Is it a Mazda 3 or an F350?

Two bucket wash, clay, Two bucket wash
M105, M205, PO85 polish. Glaze?
Sealant or wax? How many coats?

What color is it?
What are you going to use after M205?
Additional polish with PO106 or PO85?

What LSP products are you going to use?
Coli 845, Megs #26, Megs #21, BFWD, Menz Power Lock, Zaino Z-2 w/ZFX etc?

its a red z06, c5 generation ... the same exact car that matt did his write up on, for the 105/205 ... the guy at work loved how my car turned out and i was showing him his swirls ...

i was gonna do a wash/clay, correction (105/205), polish (PO85rd) and wax it with pin sig series ...

That should come out real nice!
He will be happy with the results.

All vehicles don't need M105
The paint IS different on ALL vehicles.

Use the least aggressive method first.
Do a complete finished test spot first.

is there anything more aggressive than the m105 and using a surbuf pad? ... each panel on the vette took a good 3-4 rounds of buffing ... (or) maybe its the buffer im using? ... which is a craftsman rotary, i have a 6" backing plate hooked to it ... i think my 2 speeds are 1450 and 1600 rpms ... i worked VERY hard on the vette to correct it, WAY too long ...

school me please ...

I think the next step is sanding, but I could be wrong. M105 anda surbuf pad is pretty aggressive.

i fought that vette all winter ... i couldnt tell you the hours i have in that car ... reading matts write up, i thought that the 105/surbuf combo was about the best for it - because he mentions about all of the failed attempts to correct the corvettes hard clear ...

i know i just did a fender on my mustang and 1 pass was like glass ... same with the '04 jeep wrangler ...

i must say, the 105 is tough to work with ... you have to use a lot to keep it from drying out ... small sections too ...
