Washed my first Bentley today! :) But...

Nice looking work and I'll bet the owner was pleased!

Here's how NOT to detail a Bentley..........

You know... its actually quite sad.
You have good honest detailers out there that are having a tough time making ends meet, and then you have hacks like this who has a "successful" business. It just goes to show you that the average person don't know squat!

I don't understand it myself. It's like if I spent $200k on a house and never vacuumed the floors or cleaned the toilet.

So, you wanna swing by and "detail" my house? :xyxthumbs:

Excellent work on that Bentley though if it was me I would have either written out my observations on the receipt or see if he comes back one or two more times( to see if he is loyal customer) before I break the ice to him and explain why polishing would be a great idea thus he may like your work and more customers come running in

This guy was applying wax and polish with a terry cloth towel. How can someone enjoy 25 years of success and their work is perfunctory and shoddy at best

I weep for our society. Hacks like this need to be tarred, feathered, and ran out of town on a rail.

Maybe that is the secret to success...screw up cars, but be really enthusiastic about it!!

I concur. 409 should never be used on a Bentley or any car for that matter.

It was just shocking to hear 25 years, see a filthy bucket with no mention of a grit guard, a wheel brush that looks like it's made for a bathroom, application of anything on paint with a wash cloth for humans, and him pretty much saying, my way is the perfect way. His shop is in Tyson's Corner Va. That county is big $$$$. How a guy manages to be a turd in that area is beyond me.

I'm not a pro but I am a consumer so here is my opinion for what it is worth:

I like your honest approach, it's always the best business practice. The next time you wash the car for him, mention the swirls and offer to do the boot just to demonstrate the difference you can make. People who own Bentleys generally know other people who own Bentleys and maybe you could pick up some more work if these people notice how nice his trunk looks. He will either be impressed and have you do the whole car or he won't but either way, he will see what you can do. A pretty good chance for more business for 1/2 hour of your time and a little material.

SORRY for external link, could not find on AUTOGEEK, but none the less it is by MIKE PHILLIPS,lol
