Hey guys, I've been doing a little reading about waterspots. After my last wash I noticed alot more spotting, I thought it was due to washing around noon (no garage). When I tried to remove them with some QD it didnt seem to phase them much. After reading, I've learned they will etch themselves into the paint - My car had been rained on about a week ago, and it sat unwashed for roughly a week. I think this allowed to to "set up" enough not to simply wash off. My question is, since i have a pretty fresh coat of wax on the car, do you think they will clay off? I'm going to be showing the car at a national event this weekend, and I would like to get it looking as best it can. I do not have access to a polisher, so im hoping they will come off with some clay.

On another note, What do you guys suggest to remove water spotting that occurs after washing in door jambs and under hood? My normal QD's dont quite cut it (Crystal Mist and Megs UQD) - i was thinking about mixing up some DP 4 in 1 into a kind of potent QD, what ratio would you suggest I cut it?

Thanks.

I don't think any QD will remove it. Try a paint cleaner like Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion. If it's etched in, machine polishing might be the only way to remove it. There are some water spot removers for paint, you may want to try that. If you show your car at shows, why don't you own a machine polisher?

Its on the list (polisher). I find myself spending too much money on modifications rather than car care products. Right now my priority has been getting a new set of heads on the car, and then trying to get the garage where I have moved in cleaned out so I can garage the car.

I was more referring to fresh waterspots in door jambs from not drying quick enough in the second paragraph. I realize QD wont removes spots that have settled in.

It should work on your door jams and under the hood. If you keep those areas waxed/sealed it should be easy to remove with a QD. Have you tried ONR? It will soften your wash water.

I tried DP 4 in 1 (PBMA's version of ONR) yesterday. Added to my normal wash bucket mix - didnt notice a huge difference, but could tell some added lubricity and smoothness.
