But I'd urge you to try Collinite 845 before anything else. It's really cheap and gives excellent protection for cars parked outside 24/7.
This would be my vote. It looks great, lasts forever, and is really easy to apply. You can't go wrong.
If your silver Jetta is anything like my black GTI, the paint will be very hard. However, I found Blackfire SRC compound and polish (a.k.a. Duo) with Lake Country flat pads teamed up on my HF DA polisher makes short order of any swirls I might build up.
