It's up to what you are looking for in a wax. Show car wax, DD wax, Color enhancing wax.
Basically it comes down to your concours show car waxes that look great but offer short durability. So your waxing once a month if not more often.
Longer durability waxes might give you more then a month because they have polymers or resins in them.
Also the types of wax will effect durability, examples nuba melts at 180 degrees and montan wax melts at a little over 200 degrees. So imagine how fast they melt on a hot summer day with your car sitting in the sun.
Reputable brands for looks IMO: Dodo, Wolfgang Fuzion, Bouncer's ( also durable) Chemical Guys, Black Fire and I'm sure others can add.
Durability: Bouncer's, Collinite, Finish Kare off the top of my head.
If you want durability the best is to go with a sealant.
