What is the best way to apply wax. Foam pad or microfiber? Also is there a prefered microfiber towel for removing wax.

I like foam for wax and MF covered foam for sealant. Cobra Supreme 530's are nice for removal. Recently I've wrapped a foam applicator in my MF towel when removing wax, it gives a nice thick cushion between your hand and the paint.

I use the red foam CCS applicators. One side is smooth for paste wax. The other has the dimples for liquids.

Also how do you know when it's time to switch to a fresh towel. Sometimes after I'm done waxing and I'm parked in the sun you can see a sort of haze from the wax. And what is the best way to clean the towels afterwards.

2 towels should be enough for 1 car. Just keep flipping and folding the towel. If you see haze or streaking, go over the car(different towel) with a quick detailer and that should clear it up.

light even coat .... more wax does not equate to better or longer protection, its usually harder to remove and wasted product.

yes they do. i use a foam applicator for both paste and liquid forms. But that's just me, read Mike Phillip's signature "Find something you like and do it often. :)

I guess there are things that are all down to personal preference.

I still personally find hand application of a wax or sealant to be easiest. You can easily control how much applied. ALways remember that more is not better or more protection, just harder to remove and likely wasted product.
