Hello,

I have a 2016 camry with tri-coat blizzard pearl paint job(decent amount of metallic flake).

Upon purchase in fall 2015 I gave it a good wash with ONR(used it since day 1) , a complete claying followed by a simple wax donated by a friend. I was amazed by what simple claying and decent wax could do.

Fast forward to now getting ready for summer, I am looking to step it up a notch considering appearance and protection(harsh northeast sun, car stored outsine). My budget has been raised to around 100$, I know thats not much but I am a young 20 something year old living on that good old college budget. I do not have major swirl marks or water spots, only very few of those single long scratches(spider scratches?)
I have purchased WG rinseless uber wash and will be using that all spring and summer.

After minimal research my list of products and procedure is as follows:

Iron x. 18.00$
Old fashion clay
WG Polish Enhancer(2oz sample 4.99$)
WG Finishing Glaze 3.0 (2oz sample 4.99$)
WG Deep Gloos Sealant 31.99$

Tools:
Alreadh owned microfiber towel
Meguairs foam applicator 4 pk (4.99$)
CCS euro hand foam applicator 3 pack; 1 white, 1 red, 1 gold. (12$)

Using only the sample sizes ordering from autogeek will cost 77+ shipping

I know the sample sizes wont last long but are they even enough to do the smaller body camry? I wont lie, I was sold on the reputation of WG and did not do to much research into other products. Although I have looked into a couple poorboy products, as well as collinate( good marks for reviews and decent price for the amount of product.)

I am obviously new to this so all critiques are welcomed. I have read that using the polish enhancer and glaze is redundant?

Basically is this a solid treatment for the money to last me through the summer or should i go for another brand that makes more sense economically.

Thx in advance for understanding my lack of knowledge and explaning things better.
Also shine is a factor!

Have you looked into a AIO polish, such as McKee's 360 or HD Speed?

First of all, welcome to the forum.

It looks like you don't have a machine to polish with, so that kinda changes what everyone normally recommends. Polishing by hand is a serious pain. So I'd say take the Glaze off your list for now since you won't see much of an improvement using it by hand.

The WG PPE is sort of redundant, and that's what I'd recommend between the two for your particular situation. Basically, the Glaze will polish out any minor marks permanently. The PPE is sort of a filler that hides them temporarily. Hiding them won't do any damage. They'll just show up again after a half dozen car washes. At which time you can cover them again with the PPE.

Also, forget the Iron-X for now. A new car doesn't need it and you don't need to add it to your budget. You can always pick it up later if you want.

Since it's a new car with no major paint defects, you're mostly looking to do maintenance. Spend your money on really good MF towels and drying towels. Use the PPE after claying, then cover with the Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. Also consider some quick detailer for between washes.

The goal is to just keep it from damaging it until your budget grows and you can pick up a polisher and pads.

You'll use the clay maybe once every 3-4 months. Same with the PPE. Add another layer of DGPS maybe once a month.

I'd also consider some Collinite 845 for that paint instead of the DGPS. It's very durable and about half the price.

Thx for replies fellas!

After reading I realized i dont need the Iron X or glaze, thx.

I am now debating on claying and using the Mckee 360 all in one(maybe topping with collinite 845). Versus using clay, WG PPE and WG DGPS.

If elbow grease wasnt a factor; I am young, I can manage. Which setup would provide the best shine?

It's not so much how hard it is to polish by hand (altho that is definitely a factor), but rather how long it will take. For me to polish my car (about the same size as yours) with a GG6, it takes 90 minutes or longer per step. To do it by hand would take about 10X as long. And you'll go through a LOT more product. You'd won't even get half done with the car before you start thinking about skipping meals so you can afford a machine.

But for the best shine, you'd want to go with Glaze done by machine then topped with WGDGPS. Without a machine, I doubt you'd see a lot of difference between Glaze or PPE, topped by WGDGPS. The combination of the machine with a soft pad at high speed (compared to your Karate Kid impersonation) is what brings out the sheen.

I think you're better off hiding any micro scratches for now rather than going at it by hand and either wasting your time and serious energy or possibly adding marks. My previous car was a black Audi A4 that I bought brand new. I used Klasse AIO on it for a couple years (topped with a great wax) and only later started to use a machine and pads. By then I had a pretty good idea of products to use and how to use them.

Ha. Your Karate Kid ref made me LOL and sold me on the idea to keep it simpler.

Thx for your input!

I just ordered some Gold microfiber towels the sealant and PPE.
