That's some good stuff right there!
I was in a band that covered Separate Ways. That and Don't Stop Believing were my favorites of the night to play. Steve Smith is one of my drum heroes. In fact, the song I posted of Bloodline Riot's "Letting Go", the second verse is a tribute to Smith's drum part in Don't Stop.
My girlfriend's name is Cheri. I met her when we were in 5th grade, in September of 1987. That song still reminds me of being a kid as well... GREAT selections there!
i get all pumped up when i hear seperate ways (especially the beginning), like i want to go out and run a few miles or something lol. yes, steve smith is an awesome drummer and i have a double instructional dvd that is amazing (gotta find it somewhere) and he knows drumming (like dave weckyl and many of the older yamaha endorsed drummers) inside out and out unlike a lot of drummers out these days, especially the young ones. they certainly don't make genuine music like this these days...
btw, Journey without Steve Perry (his vocal range is amazing) just isn't the same...
it's amazing how powerful a good song can be and remind you of some good or bad memories that can instantly change your mood in a matter of seconds...
It's too bad the kids aren't as aware of those drummers as they are the Travis Barkers of dumdom.
Cheri and I saw Journey over the summer, and while Arnel is great, he's no Steve Perry. Perry, Freddie Mercury, and Sebastion Bach are tough acts to follow.
