What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

2006 came out nice! Solution finished all the black. Stuff is a real nightmare to work with but it definitely does the trick.

Earlier today took the g/f's Cruze through the touch-free wash but did a Veros Ceramic pre-wash first. Once home I applied some 303 Tire Balm and called it a day there

Once the Cruze was done I turned my attention to the EN, in the parking lot

I started by using Griot's Garage wheel cleaner and 3 brushes to get them clean, inside and out. Next was the pre-wash using the IK Foam Pro 12 filled with Veros maintenance wash w/ a little bit of Bilt-Hamber Touchless for good measure. After a good dwell time I rinsed it down and used a very old product for drying aid...DPC something or another made as a drying aid, very nice results

Once done I moved the EN out to the street, away from the sap spray trees and added some TWHS graphene tire dressing to the Pirelli's...done right, WRONG

Had some bird bomb etching to knock out and for this I used Meg's UC, 3-4 attempts but it came out, NEVER, EVER give up So because I polished out the panel under the rear window, the areas of trunk and wing I need to protect it, so I grabbed Adam's spray graphene, so easy to use

Soooo, you guys know me, what do you think I did next......quote this with your answer

Oh yeah, had some custom decals made to accent the embossed "N" in the side skirts. It's all about the little things, now it matches the calipers.

The Qashqai got caught in the rain the other day, it was clean, and only sat in the rain, but I resisted the urge to dry it when I moved it back inside. Lots of dirty water spots once it was dry, so I gave it a 2B wash with Reset today, just used the Reset with my wheel brush for the still mostly clean wheels. Dried it with Bowden's After Glow when I moved it back in the garage.

I finished the mechanical decontamination of my Dad's Merc C300 with a Nanoskin Autoscrub Fine and Carpro Polyshave towel. After I got some dinner I did a test spot on the hood with my new Hercules Forced Rotation polisher, Scholl S20 Black, and Buff n Shine Uru-Fiber pads. I did four passes and here's the before and after. The paint is really rough so there is no way I'll reach anything beyond 75% defect removal. Another 4 passes in some areas helped a little more but not enough to spend the time doing 8 passes everywhere. I was happy enough with the test pass and went on the do the rest of the hood. I did have to use my Adam's Swirl Killer Mini and Micro polishers in some of the tighter areas but the Hercules was a pleasure to use.

I did some interior work on the FJ. I'd used Hyper Dressing on the dash, doors and console a few weeks ago, but it was too shiny for my liking. So I wiped it all down with Bowden's Orange Agent, then went back over it with TW Inside Job, looks much better, and I forgot how much I like the scent.

I have read about people using a coating over solution finish. I have to look into before i get home.

Yeah. People use CarPro Dlux, etc, on trim too which would probably last longer.

I know The Guz doesn’t like coating over SF. Coating locks whatever’s underneath in and if with some time you need to add more you can’t topped with a coating.

No real way to remove coating from trim so you would basically add it to the top or
F the coating. Recommended using a sealant and I know SF produces their own topper…

Love those additional decals, really ties in with the brake calipers. :xyxthumbs:

Cleaned the TSI today. Presoaked with OPC and BH Touchless. Soap bucket had Sonax Actifoam Energy and I used my wheel brushes. Rinsed. Misted with Koch Chemie Motorplast and let that dry for about an hour. Had to buff a little on certain surfaces but overall that stuff cured perfectly on it's own. Very happy. Not perfect, obviously, but good enough. Oh, and opted to cover alternator and battery. Wiped battery down by hand prior to misting with Motorplast.

The blue she got is very nice, but I sometimes wish she'd gone with white or silver, boring, yes, but much easier to maintain.

The family 2 doors up has just got the new model Qashqai, in black metallic, it hasn't been washed since they got it 2 months ago. They keep to themselves, so I let it go. At least it shouldn't have any swirls.

I've got a couple jobs coming up in 2 weeks and needed to stock up on some products.

While getting some small N decals made the girl who works there, who's a real gearhead, has a 500 hp SRT8 Cherokee w/ a cool smurf blue wrap, needs a good wash and protection done, plus the rims...OMG what a disaster For this, as well as that rare green ZL1 Camaro that I do there, the owners car, will be getting a Bilt-Hamber Korrosol chemical decon, Bilt-Hamber Touchless pre-wash and Bilt-Hamber AutoWash 2BM. The rims will protected with either DIY Detail Quick Beads or Pure:est spray sealant, something I wanted to try based off of their great tire dressing. I'll have 6 hrs to get both done, I think I can do it but the Cherokee rims are an absolute disaster and that ZL1 isn't easy either, oh well, I'll knock it out

The other products like Griot's Garage Trim & Detail coating I was out of and the DIY Detail water spot remover and Bilt-Hamber concentrated quick detailer intrigued me because in the case of DIY Detail water spot remover it's a spray on, rinse off formula and the Bilt-Hamber concentrate because...well, it's Bilt-Hamber
