What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Just finished what is looking to be the last wash of the season up here in Minnesota.

Washed with Carpro Reset then used Carpro Ech2o with a hint of Kamikaze Overcoat.

Offsetting some of the cost of all my gear with a paid detail this afternoon.

Due to the pandemic, this vehicle hasn't been traveling as much, making my job a bit easier today.

Extreme Solutions LVR 369 Trifecta
Microfiber cutting pad on a MaxShine 15mm DA

I did some test areas with four different pads and the 5” LC cutting pad yielded the result I was looking for.

White is a mixed blessing. It looks cleaner to the average eye, but is more challenging to actually clean and correct! I’m using multiple light sources to check my work, and it’s a bear. This one is definitely a learning detail for me.

Question:

I was expecting the microfiber cutting pad to leave behind a haze, but so far I haven’t seen any. LVR 369 is a compound-polish-seal product. Perhaps it’s preventing hazing from the pad? Or would haze only occur from
using a rotary? Thanks.

With harder paint like VW, white paint and a product that finishes down nice you will get very little, sometimes no haze when using a microfiber pad.

I was attempting some additional paint correction on my brother's Rav4 when this happened. This pad was new and not from another vendors in Autogeek. Lesson learned. View attachment 71126

Were you using a 5" pad with a 6" plate, or is it just the picture that is deceiving?

Well, it came out pearl-white, and the owner is pleased.
I would’ve like to seen more paint correction out of it. But this car is taken to a car wash every couple weeks, so I had to manage my expectations.

Day Off Ranger detailing.

After a grubby couple of days on the mowing run, and a coating of wet weather road film, my hard working Ranger needed some attention. Being maintained regularly, my Ranger only needed a quick vac of the interior and a two bucket wash.

The old mans Wildtrack, covered in traffic film and bug splatter, needed far more time spent on it. As well as attending to the bugs, the interior was dressed with 303, all glass cleaned and the leather cleaned and protected. This detail earned me a few $$ but left me wondering if it was actually a day off?

I took another page from Eldo’s book. I found a vehicle in the parking lot with the filthiest tires and I cleaned only one wheel. Then I disappeared to a different part of the parking lot. This cargo van had deplorable tires.

I’m thinking about doing to the same to one of my coworkers Mercedes SUV, I just have to fill one of my spray bottles with water so I can rinse it though.

Washed my microfiber and foam pads today in case I decide to do a prewinter detail. Used BF Pad cleaner and warm water. Air dry.

Couple days ago I brought all my stuff in from the garage as it will be getting cold soon here in Michigan (yay) and then yesterday I took the time to clean up my bottles/gallons as they were dusty. Topped off some chemicals and cleaned out some sprayers that were a bit gunky.

I cleaned the interior of the SS using Griot’s Garage interior cleaner. I followed that up with a wipe down of Adam’s Interior Detailer with MicroBan, sweat pea scent. This afternoon, upon retrieving the twins from school I was met with compliments on the “nice smell” of my SS before they returned to being preteen girls and ignoring me...
