What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Needed a little half day therapy after a long week in northern Michigan. Had to sneak it all in before the 100 degree sun hit... it's been the same story all summer

I happened upon Mitchell & King products recently and with PA still as a base, I figured some good old fashioned wax can't hurt.

TWHS Wheel foam
TWHS Graphene Tire spray
M&K Snow foam
3D pink soap

Griot's 3-in-1 on wheels
M&K Heritage (paste glaze)
M&K Emperor wax

I'm still learning about M&K and pleased overall with everything but definitely an oily wax. I need to give it a fair shake and strip my base PA layer but it turned out OK for my eyes. The PA base was beading like crazy and in theory should still have 3-5mos of life in it. Guess we'll call M&K "sacrificial therapy".

I'm supposed to have some CarPro InnerQD showing up soon so I might still wipe down the inside before some preseason NFL (football already?!)

Happy Saturday all!

CQUK on all the glass, this time including the entire roof.

I LOVE CLEAN GLASS.

Buick was the guinny pig for my first time with carpro descale, and also reset.

Ive felt contaminants.. mainly on the roof in the past while i would do hand washes. Iron remover would not touch it. So opted to give descale a try.

Car was pretty dirty, so ran a pinch of descale through the foam cannon and let dwell, and rinsed.

Then bucket washed with descale. Could feel the contaiminants were no longer present.

Followed up with bucket wash of reset.

Gyeon cure for drying aide. Megs 40 on the tires.

No joke, the surface looks and feels like the day i installed can coat evo. I will now always have descale on the shelf for the quarterly decons.

Reset will now also be a regular product for me from now on.

Glad you liked Descale, it's earnt a place in my cabinet for similar reasons.

For those who are interested, the undiluted form of Descale measures at a pH of 3.72

Thanks for the info deyon. Do you dilute it per the bottles directions? Since you use descale and reset, curious what your dilutions are for both foam cannon and a bucket

I got some RainX Ceramic glass cleaner/sealant and it made an absolute mess out of my glass. It left a residue that I can NOT wash off the glass and the windshield is foggy. You guys have any tips for me?

Tried any wax/grease remover? If not polish it off

Haven’t washed my car in the last couple of weeks at least, I’ve been getting the daughters car ready to go to college!

Standard wash with PS Pearl with multiple microfiber towels and dried with the GG PFM, wheels and tires with PS Brakebuster with multiple brushes and coated with HS graphene tire stuff….

Since it wasn’t too hot this morning, I decided to put on another coat of 3D Poxy by hand since it’s been a few months since I put a coat on…applying by hand and becoming one with the car…is very therapeutic…tiring but therapeutic!

Just as I was finishing up, Mother Nature came calling, what a b!tch she is!!

What about Eraser or some other IPA wipe? I used to Rain-X my windows back in the day until I realized I hated the smearing on the windshield, so then I started using it on all the glass EXCEPT the windshield.

Magic eraser, clay/synthetic clay or glass polish

Same here. All glass but the windshield. Until now lol. Because it said cleaner/repellant. I figured “how bad could it be? It’s gotta be mostly a cleaner”. I have my answer.

Firstly, I will outline that I don't use the two-bucket method. After rinsing, I apply soap to the car with my foam cannon, and then use a single bucket of water to rinse the wash mitt between sections. Only time I alter that method is when dealing with a dirtier vehicle, where I foam the car with soap from dry, leave to soak, rinse, reapply the soap and then do the contact wash. I mention this because I don't really have a "wash" or soap bucket, just a "rinse" bucket.

So, for Reset, I use about 80 - 100 ml in a foam cannon and add a small amount directly on my wash mitt. I know this is much stronger than Carpro's 1:500 ratio, but it works for me.

For Descale, Carpro recommends 1:10 and that's about what I use, adding about 90 - 100ml of soap to a foam cannon, again adding a small amount to my wash mitt.

I also have Carpro Lift, which I use as recommended at 1:10 / 100ml to a foam cannon.

I no longer use a soap bucket with Reset either, I use an IK Foam Pro 12 and spray it on section by section. Feels very lubricated and soapy by foam sprayer. I do still use a small soap bucket for rinseless washes but that’s it. I don’t use a rinse bucket either since I just throw used towels in the dirty bucket.

Thanks, and to each their own on wash methods. I just switched from a single mitt, to i mf towel per panel. I actually wish i would have done this years ago, as i really like this method. Use less water per bucket wash now, not that i strive for that.

I also as dgage mentioned, noticed reset really glides across the panel and feels so lubed lol. Waiting for another sale to buy a big jug.

In the past 2 days I gave my wife’s 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK some love. Not a lot because I know this car won’t be perfect so the goal was a big picture detailing, not perfection. I know some RIDS are left behind and more will come as my wife isn’t super careful. But it sure catches the eye now.

1 step polish with Rupes Yellow foam pads and Dr Beasley NSP95. Topped with Gyeon Mohs EVO. Both of those were a first for me and they were fine to use. No complaints about the polish, maybe the bottle could use a more traditional design but that’s just me being picky, super easy to use. Wipe off isn’t as dreamy as CarPro Essence but not needing a panel wipe is something that made me want to try it.

Mohs EVO is a quick coating to apply. And I mean quick. In the mid 80s and fairly humid, this thing was ready to be wiped off as soon as applied. Waiting to do a whole panel at a time led to difficult removal so it was small area of quick spread and quick removal. Thankfully my brother helped so it was me applying the coating and he removed right behind.

Windows were treated with Gyeon Quick View, also a first for me and application was a breeze, let’s see the performance now.

Trim coated with trusty CarPro Dlux.

Wife is happy. And I’m tired, this is a big vehicle.

Haha. My niece did that yesterday. And as I drove over it I got chalk on the tires. Should have called her to clean it lol.

Love that color!

Interest to hear your finding with Gyeon Quick View. I have been using it across a few vehicles, my Ranger has easily got 6+ months from it.

I think I have my rinseless technique down now. Excluding wheel work, I was able to pre-rinse, wash, and dry the car in about 20 minutes. It has taken me at least a dozen or so attempts to nail this process down, but it's cake. And I like it.
