What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

It gets old when they hear we are going on a trip or doing whatever and they say “lucky”
My parents traveled a lot when they retired. Before each trip they would say “We’re off to spend your inheritance!“

No apologies necessary dad… No seriously though, vent away.

We’re not just here for car stuff.

I use to have an aunt who use to give me good money for birthdays, holidays and such.

She came to visit one time when I started doing OK and I paid for every meal, expense and whatever else I could while she was here.

She tried to give me 5k when she left because she was proud of me. I thought about it and told her I didn’t need it. I wanted it but new I’d blow it on some wheels for my car but I didn’t need it.

She made me take it so I put it back in her luggage as I packed the car and took her to the airport.

Funny but I finally learned the value of earning my money.

The chewing out I took when she found the envelope was worth it….

I'm sure I'm going to catch some grief for the following but hear me out

So this past Tuesday I did that massive detail on the EN but noticed some high sports and even some swirls, those had to have happened upon coating removal because I polished out the paint nicely.

I couldn't take it because in the sun I could see EVERYTHING, didn't even wanna drive the EN So this morning I got after it and did the following:

-Cleaned the tires w/CarPro Retyre and rims w/ Brake Buster, all brushes used.

-Pre-wash using Koch Chemie GsF (finished off the bottle) I chose this over my dynamic duo from Bilt-Hamber because of its lower pH. Let dwell and rinsed away.

-While wet I did a Feynlab RW and even pre-treated. Dried each panel right after the cleaning.

-Inspected a couple high spots and used 3D Speed on a fresh cotton applicator pad. This leveled them down w/o applying a significant amount of pressure.

-I then applied a light coat to the entire EN sans the windshield, rear window and roof. Removed with little effort, even sitting on the car for a bit.

A couple points I'd bring up. First off the beading of Gyeon Pure EVO is INCREDIBLE! The paint was very smooth during the RW process and drying. The gloss was VERY noticeable, had a shimmer to it️Next I did apply 3D Speed to a small section on the hood, by hand and it did remove the RIDS I had, so I knew the use of 3D Speed to put my mind at ease, I was really bummed out and couldn't wait any longer

So the Gyeon Pure EVO cured for 4 days and it's been mid/upper 80's this week and very sunny, so I'm hoping the coating cured "enough" AND I'm hoping this quality AIO didn't hurt the coating much, I mean I applied by hand, didn't press to hard and wiped off easy. Additionally I'll be adding a topper or two or twenty before I go on my trip to the Dragon AND before winter

I feel so much better looking at it now

I’m headed into town in a bit to Lowes and the commissary

I need a couple of spray bottles and some distilled water so I can try out a couple of new to me traffic film products

I’m ashamed

This condo is on a gravel and dirt road and it’s been raining since we got here two weeks ago

Even the presoak and the tire cleaner at the wand wash won’t cut this

I’m going to try the products on an inner lip of the plastic wheel well trim to make sure it’s safe

If it’s good to go I will try both products on one panel at the wand wash and see what happens

I will report back

Left the tires naked because I'll be getting them rotated next weekend as well an oil change

A dedicated TFR should shift that or give it a pre soak with a citrus based product then snow foam over the top. Be careful on the black trim and never let the product's dry on the surface, but i'm sure you already know this.

For the best Traffic film removers (TFR) the British seem to have mastered this problem due to their weather.

I am CAREFULLY going to try a couple of products I can get locally first

I’ll start them off kind of weak and see what’s what and kick it up a bit at a time, watching out for the matte black trim

If that doesn’t work I’m getting some 3D Super Pre-Soak or some Bilt Hamber

I just don’t have access to a pressure washer or foam cannon right now

I’m going to go old school

This was from the last 900 miles of our road trip and all the crappy wet dusty muddy roads and rain in The Yukon, British Columbia, and Alaska on the Alcan highway as well as a few other roads

I didn’t have access to any kind of car wash the last week of the trip

This stuff is caked on like I have never seen before

Like I said, the harsh chemicals at the wand wash won’t even shift it

Thanks for your kind advice

Regards Mate

We get that here in Tasmania when they do road works it's like a fine dust like base they put down, before they seal up the road with tarmac. They wet it down so to keep the dust down but when you drive through it, it sticks like concrete!

Exactly

It sucks big time

So much of it is glacial silt around here

It’s like talcum powder but it’s abrasive as hell and for whatever reason it’s exactly as you said, it sets up like concrete

I may just break down and get a new pressure washer and a foam cannon anyway

Aughhhhhhh

Gave both the FJ and Qashqai a going over with HS Ceramic 3 in 1 Detailer. Both were lightly dusted, but the FJ had bird poop, while the Qashqai had cat foot prints from our cat looking the highest points he can find in the garage.

I have to say, I'm really impressed by the protection offered by HS Ceramic Wet Wax, and the safe cleaning ability of their Ceramic 3 in 1 Detailer, and the gloss is outstanding.

Had to laugh at the topper or two or twenty part, like there is any other choice!

I hate that feeling also, having something wrong or not right with a car, I sort of want to ignore and not drive it too.

Normal Maintenace wash Saturday. Finished with TW HS FW used as a rinse wax.

2022 peterbuilt, was stripped last year. Owner wanted it paint corrected for a local truck show next weekend.

Truck was not cleaned so imo it doesnt have the true wow factor yet lol. All surfaces to be corrected were wiped down first with 3d spray detailer.

Flex machines, lc force orange pad, 3d aat502, followed by 3d poxy and a final wipe with 3d bead it up.

Also polished back fenders after a full repaint from the brown cabover peterbuilt that was done earlier this year. Respray of fenders was due to insane amount of stone chips. Fenders will be wrapped in PPF to help better protect.

Later i spotted what might be the greatest sticker ive ever seen(sorry its a bit blurry). Please its supposed to be funny, so dont anyone go gettin offended lol
