What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Did my 2nd vehicle with cancoat. Prepped with nano skin clay sponge and then polished with Sonax PF. Then a good wipe down with cp eraser. The cancoat is a breeze to apply and wipe off. You guys make it easy with all the “shared knowledge” on this forum.

Pics, or it didn't happen.............:laughing:

First winter wash of the season didn't go as planned. I put Griot's foaming surface wash in my SPTA sprayer/foamer and went to the coin-op wash. Didn't realize the SPTA was set up as a sprayer so it didn't foam. Then the wash bay must have had a leak so it just dumped water from overhead instead of from the lance.

Had to switch to another bay to rinse the car off. Fortunately, the car wash has the same owner as the beer distributor nextdoor so I was able to buy beer and get a refund.

Haha... lemons out of lemonade. It's days like that where I want to say screw it and pack stuff back up to just go inside. Unfortunately, it usually happens after the car is already wet in some fashion and it's too late.

Related. Went thru my stock and disposed of a few things no longer used. Old drying towels, polish, etc...

I dusted off the Qashqai, it makes it much easier to see all the little oily finger prints on the doors. Then I went over the whole thing with Meguiar's Last Touch.

Did the wheels and tyres as well, paying particular attention to the rear passenger tyre, it's a new kind of parking sensor apparently. Did the tyres with Hyper Dressing, and wheels with a damp MF, they're coated with 303 Touchless Sealant so nothing sticks to them.

Finally hit mid 50's today in PA. So, truck got a good maintenance wash. The dash pro still looks amazing! So just a few spritzes on a MF applicator to lightly touch up the prior treated surfaces. Finished with HSWW as the drying aid. Deep cleaned the tires with HS Foaming wheel/tire cleaner and tried my new Tuff shine LARGE tire brush. (Very nice brush). Used up of what was remaining in the bottle of TWHS Graphene tire coating. Stuff must go a long way! Bottom of the bottle, but more in there than I thought.

Wasn’t go8ng to do any car detailing today but broke down and applied Gtechniq G1 to the Windshield and side windows of the Maverick.

I applied GTechniq G1 about 5 months ago and really like it. I’ve had better coatings in terms of water flying off at 35 mph but it didn’t last as long. G1 is still going strong but not sure if it will get past 9 months or so.

Finally got to wash my car after the freezing, snowy, and rainy weather we’ve had the last 2 weeks. Car looked awful but now it looks good though likely not for long as the roads are still wet in some areas.

Got to use my new (Xmas present) 50’ Adams expandable hose and I liked it well enough. Definitely easier to deal with than the heavy duty rubber hose I usually use. Also got to use my ice fishing gloves for the first time and my fingers were toasty warm doing an N-914 Rinseless with BRS.

For the 2nd day in a row I washed the EN. Yesterday I had a 500ML Kwazzer filled with Bilt-Hamber Surfex @3:1 and sprayed it on the car. The line was very long, waited the better part of an hour, less than that today though. I know this, it needs a Bilt-Hamber Touchless or Auto-foam pre-wash because I can still see the top layer of traffic film...I LOATHE WINTER

I have it on all the windows on my MINI and my wife’s windshield. Durability is why I chose it (after watching a Chicago Auto Pros video where the other coatings looked pretty sub-par). Had just enough to do the Maverick left so I did it. Gtechniq says 20,000 miles (which would be a few years for us) and I’ve seen one Brit reviewer say up to 2 years out if it. We don’t get a whole lot of rain here so it’ll be interesting to see how long it lasts.

I should have bought this along time ago. Making ONR into a clay lubricant and my quick detailer.

My old man had to have a tyre replaced on his Ranger yesterday. Of course, they just had to apply that horrible silicone dressing to all the tires afterwards...............:doh

I wonder how many passes with a heavy-duty tire cleaner I'm going to need to remove that stuff from the tyres, wheels and wheel arches.

I remember a couple of years ago, forgetting to tell the guys at Bob Jane not to spray mine when I got an alignment. The next time I went off-roading, the mud turned blue, but only on the outside of the tyres where they sprayed, the inside was just normal mud colour. Makes you wonder what's in it.
