What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Clay’d the horizontal surfaces on the PPF’d & coated black car.

So after the 100 mile round trip "trying" to get tpms-gate taken care of I ran the EN through the touch-free wash and came home. After lunch I was bored and went outside to look at the car...it had helicopters and these buds that looked like catapillars and saw these "pollen bombs", I was triggered and brought out the artillery

First thing I did was broke out the mini Master Blaster and blew off the car of all the foliage, much better! Next up were the tires & wheels and I felt like using the TWHS Hyper Foam, it's been a minute since I last used it and was rewarded with CLEAN tires and wheels, 3 brushes used...nice

For up was the IK Foam Pro 12 filled with Bilt-Hamber Touchless and a gallon of distilled, emptied the tank, let dwell for a solid 5 minutes, used my small brush around the badges and stamped N logo in the side skirt, a little extra clean here. I then rinsed the EN down and got ready for what's next

While wet I used DIY Detail Quick Beads on the wheels and entire EN, one panel at a time to boost the protection as the EN will be sitting till Monday, so good cure time here...next

Once dried using the mini Master Blaster and large CG's drying towel I turned to the tires, they were pretty stripped down, so out came Pure:est tire dressing, this stuff is AWESOME! I applied 1 good coat using that brush Guz reviewed on this channel, works soooo well

I finished up vacuuming out the interior and applying DIY Detail Interior Ceramic, all panels, seats (leather & Alcantara bits), the Alcantera e-brake/ handle/armrest/shiftknob and boot...product works on EVERYTHING inside the car, one of DIY's highest quality products without a doubt

I got so caught up in doing all this and forgot to look at the engine bay, I'm all over it Taz...pic coming up, gotta grab my IK sprayer w/N914 in it, stay "tuned"

So my buddy Tas asked "do you keep the engine bay like the exterior" and this made me think about showing the engine bay. Now to be honest, no, I don't keep it like the exterior.

I usually wipe it down from time to time, it's NEVER trashed and grimy, that's for sure, so I'd say it's lightly dusty at its worst.

Upon lifting the hood I was right, it was lightly dusty, so I sprayed down the entire engine bay w/N914 WW, let it dwell and wiped it down. Once that was done I grabbed some TriNova tire dressing and sprayed down some of the plastic and rubber bits, rubbed them in using a cotton applicator and a small brush to work in some of the tighter bits...done

You really suck at detailing, Roger.

I zoomed in to the 1000th power and saw a speck of pollen adjacent to, and just under the oil dipstick.

Could you PLEASE try a little harder to not post hack pics like these??

:laughing::laughing::laughing::cheers::righton:

I checked the FJ after foaming it yesterday, it didn't need a 2B wash, although the wheels and tyres still need some extra attention. I gave the paint a spray and wipe with Ech2o, it was all that was required. I did discover some battle damage though, it wasn't obvious during the foam and rinse yesterday. There's a 6-8 inch pinstripe above the right rear wheel. 2 rock scrapes on the rear left door, and another rock scrape above the rear left wheel. I'll work on them during the week, I knew there'd be something to see after some of the noises I heard while on the track. It won't stop me going out and doing it again.

Have you tried leveling Darkside down after a bit of time? I assume you don't like the sling and that's especially a NO NO on that beauty

I’ve haven’t had any sling so far. Griots just applies easier and seems to be more even. I’ll try leveling it next time.

Was there reasoning behind which was pretreat and which was for the RW? I've personally avoided absolute as a pretreat because I don't want to leave it in my electric sprayer.

It was what was only polymer based I had loaded in a pump sprayer.

I didn't like Griot's Ceramic - kind of like their Ceramic Glass, just didn't do it for me but to be fair, I need to use them again and give another chance. I found the Tire dressing to hardly last and the glass cleaner was not user friendly... but I'll try them again to be fair.

I prefer gels. For some reason it feels like the tire gels just apply better and last longer. However, do listen to CarPro with Darkside when it is suggested to use very little. I also highly recommend leveling it later (like 24hrs later if possible to not drive). I was sling city after over applying!

Didn’t love glass cleaner at first. But I like it after a rinsless. It’s not a strong glass cleaner so rinsless removes bulk of dirt and easy to do while washing car.

Then use there glass cleaner and I seem to get 3+ weeks of beading. Glass also looked better to me which is weird. I want to say it was all in my head but it did look better to me.

Ahhh, I see

Well Darkside is a bit thicker and because of that, in theory, should last longer. I have it on my g/f's Cruze where it's washed once a week and I refuse to top it like I do my own car, so it's a great test bed for Darkside

Rainy day in MN. Watching the water pattern bubble and run off the car is the most excitement you’ll find here.

Got a good wash in. Took the truck on to the beach Saturday and spent today cleaning it.

Presoak with BH Touchless in Marolex Sprayer then followed up with Descale. Knockout combination. Wet Coat was going strong too. I didn't reapply Wet Coat as there was no need.

From what I've been gathering Klasse is you have all the big tire dressing lines. I have been trying to get a straight answer on Darkside. Is it your favorite? I like all the above on tire dressings with the exception of dull or matte or short life.

And I thought my honeycomb grille was a nightmare. Great job.

I did a quick underhood wipe down with Sonax Ceramic Detailer. I’ll use it up as it doesn’t play well with my FK1000p on the bodywork.
