What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

So I got out there to do one of those "Sanity Washes" this morning and my God is it mugggggy

I just used Griot's Garage foaming surface wash, let dwell, rinsed and free flowing water. I dried it quickly as the humidity is high already. Speaking of drying it, the fresh coat of Nv Lustre had the beading OFF THE CHARTS! The sun got in the way of a good pic but these beads were HOF beads️️

While drying the door jams I decided to install a gift given to me by my buddy Marsin. I met him a year ago and have given him a number of detailing products and even donated a limited edition Hyundai Elantra N Blipshift shirt as a giveaway for his YouTube channel (Polish Bullitt)

I now have N Performance Alcantara e-brake handle, armrest and shiftknob and boot and now their door scuff plates, soon the N Performance intake

Buick got a rinseless with feynlab pure, foam cannon pretreat with mix of decon and lift(dunno how it go mixed...oops lol) and hit with iron remover as well. I did NOT top it, going to run Mohs evo naked for a while.

Thanks to Guz's old rinselss videos, i ordered 914 to try. Going to step away from onr for a bit and run clean bare paint for a while.

Quick wipedown of interior as well. Jeep also got the same entire treatment+ topped with amplify. yesterday.

The last time someone brought me a limo I wanted nothing to do with driving it and had the customer back it in, but this time I wanted to try it and it wasn’t difficult at all.

Yea and I just went out and touched the paint and it feels rough as hell. 1 of those situations that makes me think I should iron decon 1st. but I’m not sure if I have enough iron decon on hand to cover the entire vehicle.lol. [edit: I just checked, I’ve got 2 full bottles of Ultimate Wheel Cleaner]

The good thing is the roof is vinyl.

I’m gonna earn good on this limo.
 
Used the Geist leather cleaner on the Jaguar. Just outstanding results. It was too hot to go farther on it. I’ll apply the other 2 steps next weekend. I also vac’d and cleaned the front floor mats. I used the Nextzett vinyl deep cleaner and the Weathertech preserver. Great combo. I also Amplify’d the Dodge.

Ran my work van through the touch-free wash this morning. I need to try some iron remover on its rear doors, specs all over it from driving WEEKS needing rear brakes...and it shows

So I ended up buying the Glaze, which is fairly similar to Cleansing. Used it quickly on a small section after it arrived yesterday and same experience as you but a dry application. It did not really cover any blemishes but the paint was squeaky clean and ready for protection. I had just washed it 48hrs prior and it knocked out any previous protection applied in that wash. Pretty crazy how little effort went into it and yet I would have been comfortable adding any sort of LSP as if I had just polished.

I can't wait to do a larger area and know now I can comfortably layer OR do it properly and eliminate old protection to try new products. Good stuff coming out of Japan!

Messing around a bit today with the Limo. I cleaned the interior and also the wheels & tires. Finished off the wheels with a quick spray/rinse of Armor All Ceramic Wash.

Little details on the exterior such as the door handles & keyholes which were extraordinarily dirty are now perfectly clean.

The limo has 4 sets of chrome opera lights [3 light bars per set] which were in terrible condition.

I was able to make a dramatic difference by polishing them out with some 0000 steel wool.

I plan to go over them again as I just picked up a new batch of steel wool, but those are the initial results.^

I also polished the grill & hood emblem with the steel wool and restored the chrome to like new condition. It’s poppin.

A fully serviced truck deserves a good detail! Worked in some heat and sun yesterday. Good interior. Dr Beasleys dash pro on all interior plastics. Griots 3-1 mat cleaner for the floor liners. Blackfire leather complete on all seats. Engine was clean. A good wash with TW slick & slide. Pulled out the TWHS graphene flex wax. Put down a coat by hand. Wheels got the same. Tires got Griots ceramic tire shine.

As long as it's real chrome, I hate chromed plastic. It looks bad enough when it's new, after a couple of years it's wasted.

It is Real chrome. The way you can tell the difference between “real chrome” and what you consider fake chrome doesn’t have to do with whether the part is plastic or metal underneath, it’s the process that matters, and visually both will actually look the same. The only difference is “real” chrome is more durable.

Easy way to tell whether it’s “real” chrome is if you can take some steel wool to it and not scratch it. Even if it’s plastic chrome you should be able to take not just 0000 steel wool but also 00 and I’m pretty sure 000 as well without creating scratches.

That’s why I was easily able to polish this grill and make it look like new. [it’s not metal]

If it’s “fake” chrome steel wool will immediately scratch it because fake chrome has a top layer of clearcoat on it, which will scratch the same way your paint would if you were to rub even the finest steel wool across it.

The mistake some people make is trying to use steel wool with somekind of metal polish as if the metal polish is going to provide somekind of lubrication between the steel wool and the chrome surface. That’s a big mistake and the only thing that results in is making the process too aggressive which will result in either scratching or dulling the surface, and once you do that there’s no turning back.

Some people talk about using water as lube and while I haven’t used plain water before I guess it should work… This time I experimented and used N-914 as lube mainly because I wanted to eliminate the dust residue + I was down to my last piece of steel wool and it worked out great on the opera lights. I used the steel wool dry on the grill and blew off the dust with the Metro Sidekick.
 
Got off of work a little early and decided to wash the EN, it poured overnight and the road was wet and light rain taking my daughter to daycare, so a "legit" wash was needed.

I drove straight out of the wash and to a park with good shade to dry off the EN, spot drying was all that was needed. Since I had the time I decided to apply some TWHS Pure Shine to the paint. Now the Nv is laying under it, doing its thing but this product is EXACTLY what the name implies...PURE SHINE, zero protection and its soooo easy to use, almost zero effort to wipe and buff

For the tires & wheels I simply used Bilt-Hamber quick detailer to even out the tires and level out the rims, super easy and as you can see the tires looks "sheeny"

My second car had chrome bumpers and on the wheels. I occasionally used steel wool on the wheels, with WD40, but I never had to on the bumpers, they stayed good for the 3 years I had it. This shot is from around 1990, the car is a 79 Holden Commodore.
