What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

During halftime of my Lions CRUSHING the Packers, in the dark, I went out and applied some VRT on the EN's Pirelli's

Is this some kind of secret Alabama currency?

Because if "goldfish" means dollars, you're gonna go broke........

Haha, no sir. Just the most common currency of toddlers worldwide. Can’t tell you the secret Alabama currency . I’m already broke thanks to Autogeek…

Fall polish on my truck (full post in show & shine). I don’t see how some of y’all do this for a living . That kicked my butt, however it was fun learning to use my new polisher! As a dark colored truck, it’s already starting to get dirty after only a couple hours parked outside . I cannot un-see what I’ve seen on AG.

Apart from the total area you're working on, there's also the up and down on the work platform/ladder to reach the roof. It's a damn good leg work out. Years back I did my neighbour's Audi Q7 as a cash job, then I understood why he never washed it himself. Then I traded my wagon in on the FJ, what was I thinking.

I wouldn't go back though, the FJ is my favourite vehicle I've ever owned.

After washing the Dodge, I applied another coat of Armour Detail Ceramic Sealant to the body and wheels. I treated the tires with the new 3D Ceramic Matte Tire. I like the matte finish better than the Jescar.

Another warm spring day here, and the birds are very active, so I'm finding small bird bombs on the FJ every day. I moved it inside and gave it a QD with TWHS Ceramic 3 in 1 Detailer. Then gave it a quick vacuum, and gave the interior a wipe down with TWHS Inside Job.

So today I decided to do a wash AND address my g/f's Cruze's interior, lots of work here, sorry no pics as I just got after it

I started with the tires and wheels, Bilt-Hamber Surfex @3:1 in the IK Foam 9 made short work of them, all 4 brushes used for a complete clean

Next up was the pre-wash and for this it was Griot's Garage Foaming Surface Wash in the IK Foam Pro 12, such a pleasant product to use, both from a foam AND scent. Once rinsed down it was time for the 2BM

I've been using Bilt-Hamber AutoWash as my 2BM go to for quite some time and there's a reason for this...it flat out cleans so damn well! I easily went around the Cruze to bring out its best

While it was wet I finished off my bottle of 303 Ceramic Detailer as my drying aid and it's a solid product that I do recommend, leaves the paint smooth and glossy, good beading afterwards as well

For the tires it was 303 once again, my dwindling bottle of their Tire Balm, I'm going to miss this product, thankfully I've got MANY others to chose from

Now I turn to the interior and my God did it need it, actually for quite some time! I started by taking out the WeatherTechs and foaming them with Bilt-Hamber Surfex @3:1, I let them dwell as I vac'd out the interior w/ my Rigid wet/dry vac, thank God I've got this thing...I needed it! Once done here I foamed each section of the carpet w/ Bilt-Hamber Surfex @3:1 and let dwell. While that was going on I turned to the rear, carpeted mats. Here I decided to foam them down with the Bilt-Hamber Surfex, let dwell and used my short brissel tire brush to clean them. Next I rinsed them and let them sit in the sun

Knowing the interior vinyl needed a good cleaning I reached for Bilt-Hamber Surfex in my 500 ML Kwazzer and a sponge. As I moved around the interior it cleaned very well, so I knew the dressing would look it's best when I got to that point. I did come back to vacuum out each section where the Bilt-Hamber Surfex was foaming, vac'd it up to move to along to the next step

Dressing the interior vinyl bits was easy because I reached for an ICON, 303 Protectant! It just leaves a sheen that can't be beat IMO

The only thing left to is the interior glass and with it being 84 degrees today, that was out of the question, later on I'll do that and do a general go over my work in the interior and spray some interior scent in there

This is something she's been wanting us to do but I decided to do it myself because the job my g/f works(d) at is closing their doors, so it was the least I could do to make her happy today

So the EN was next, yes I'm a madman for working on my own car after that marathon session on my g/f's Cruze

I've got a C&C tomorrow morning where my EN will be in the show, what a concept! I started with Brake Buster in the IK Foam 9 and all 4 brushes were used and the amount of brown foam...eeeeek

Next up was the pre-wash and in an effort to kill off another bottle I used the Griot's Garage foaming surface wash once again, I've got enough left to do 1 more pre-wash. My battery actually died while foaming the car but there enough PSI built up to finish off the product in there

Next was the 2BM and honestly I could've skipped this but since I had the buckets out AND the soap bucket left over from the Cruze wash looked pretty good I just used it

Once the wash was done and used the free flowing water to rinse things down I used Griot's Garage Ceramic Speed Shine as the drying aid...one of their best products without a doubt

I finished things off by applying the 303 Tire Balm to the EN's Pirelli's and called it a day...well until I go back out there to clean her inside windows

Used this on the tires of buick during a wheel cleaning during a tire rotation. Worked well, seems any remnants of megs m40 is all gone.

Tomorrow will be the testing out of 3d matte tire.

I did a one year coating maintenance for a friend. I like rinseless washing for light in between washes but this confirmed for me that at some point you’ve gotta break out a good soap and put in some elbow grease and give your car a good deep cleaning, be it coated or not. The coating was holding steady on most of the car but the areas near the rocker panels that see a lot of road grime and tar were weak. I always offer to show my customers how to do a rinseless wash because most have no idea how to safely wash a car and it’s easy but I also offer them the chance to come back and learn how to do a good deep cleaning with a pressure washer. Very few ever come back.

Washed my Edge after almost 5 straight days of rain.

I broke out my new polisher and had a go at the hood on the blue car

The machine came with 4 pads, 2 foam and 1 each microfiber and wool

The foam pads are the Diamond style and I’ve never really been a fan of foam pads with waffles or dimples etc

I ordered one plain beveled orange heavy polishing pad to try so I got out the red finishing pad and the orange pad and the new NV Finesse polish

I taped a section and tried the red pad first and it wasn’t enough to help the light swirls and scratches but I didn’t really expect it to

It left a nice finish though

It’s unbelievable how much damage the car sustained last winter from being outside at the B&B where we spent the winter

I put on the plain orange pad and it feels almost exactly like a Lake Country SDO orange pad

A couple of moderate speed and moderate pressure passes helped but it needed more so I blew the pad out and did 3 passes with just a touch more pressure and it worked nicely

I got a tiny bit of dusting but since I have a compressor again I can deal with it

I did a bit more of the hood and momma popped her head in the garage to let me know she was up so I stopped to make her coffee and then cleaned up my mess

I really like the new polisher, the slow start function is awesome for spreading product and it is just smooth and a delight to use

Hit the touch-free wash before C&C this morning, drove straight there and used TWHS Pure Shine to bring it up a notch

I've had the EN for 1.5 yrs and I'm amazed to this day how much the color changes

Carpro Descale
Armour Detail Decon Shampoo
Armour Detail Iron
DIY Detail clay towel and KC clay lube

DIY Detail Quick Beads on wheels

DIY Detail Gold Polish using their yellow and red waffle pads

Gyeon Panel Prep

Phoenix Immortal Ceramic Spray - I don't really know why I chose this one. I bought it thinking about it as a topper or focusing it more on lower panels for better protection but I used Phoenix Titan last wash and was very impressed. This is probably as close to a ceramic coating as I'll ever get and I doubt I'll let it stay on even for 6mos.

Overall, a busy Sat evening and Sun morning but since not a lot of correction was needed (or better yet, I didn't chase anything real nit picky), it went smooth overall. I may pull it out later for better pictures but here's a few of the final output.

I'll probably top off through fall using PA Cosmic Colour Spritz and Kamikaze OC. I've got Fireball Wax Off in the mail so that I can start trying more of these LSPs I have sitting around in the way they were meant to be tried!

I did some more work on my driving light covers using a few more products and steps

ecd913980615134015a4167e235d314a.jpg

I went from a Shinemate heavy cutting wool pad with Megs Ultimate compound which isn’t that aggressive but it’s what I had, to a Shinemate foam cutting pad with the Megs, to a Shinemate orange heavy polishing pad with NV finesse, to a final step with Griots Ceramic AIO and a black finishing pad just for some protection

I think they turned out pretty good; there are some deeper pits but I don’t think sanding would have taken them out

Overdue Maintenace wash on the truck. Took out the floor liners front and back. Gave the carpet a good cleaning with TW upholstery cleaner. Finished with flex wax as the drying aid. Tires got refreshed with Griots ceramic tire shine.
