What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I resisted Hyper Wash for ages, mainly because of that ultra thick consistency. But honestly, it was one of those lightbulb product discoveries for me.

It's so damn slick. I mostly work on coated cars so Reset makes sense for me but it's $80 a gallon. I can get HW for $28/gallon and with over 40 washes per gallon it's going to be my go to product for customers. I might just get a gallon for myself and reserve Reset for when I need to do a deep clean on my cars. But make no mistake, I will be buying a pump for that jug. I greatly underestimated how thick a soap could be.

I've contemplated making a more diluted concentrate of it.

I am always experimenting with different soaps ever since I was a kid in the 70s. My first go to soap was Dupont No.7 powder in the metal can. Then it was Meguairs Gold Class. Now that I am using a foam cannon, I try different extra foamy soaps. Nothing beats Hyperwash. It's slippery, sudsy and works great in a foam cannon or gun. The one ounce pump dispenser makes one jug last a long time.

D*** i*You guys are gonna make me buy a gallon of it aren't you

I've had mine shelved for awhile and trying other soaps but now I'm feeling like I have to go check on it.

Took my g/f's Cruze for gas and a touch-free wash, the sap was definitely on it...now it's gone, no pre-wash either as it's supposed to storm all day tomorrow

It's been raining since yesterday afternoon, and the Qashqai was parked in it for a few hours today. I didn't want to touch dry it, but I also didn't want it to just sit and air dry in the garage, so I grabbed my bigboi and blew it dry. It's a noisy process, headphones help, but the results are good.

I use the Xiaomi tire inflator. If he's not detailing multiple cars in a day I'd say it's the way to go. It's small, saves about $70 over getting the IK e Foam Pro 12 and works. Set the PSI to 45 and once it reaches 30 start foaming and you'll have a nice constant stream of foam the entire time using it. One charge can do two large vehicles.

Battery can be replaced on the IK… much quieter strapped on very well. Also 3 uses more than half battery left

I said same things as you and others till I got it. Worth every bit of that $70. Superior in ease of use, battery life, quietness.

We as enthusiasts blow money anyways. That’s just a couple of bottles of LSP or rinsless’s I feel like

I have several tire inflators and one currently ordered for the foam 2. After my experience with E foam pro 12 I’ll be early adopter of the battery powered foam 2 when it releases.

Was well worth it.

If I used my Pro 12 more often I’d probably go the route of getting their dedicated battery pack but I use my foamer twice a month at best. My cars never need Auto Foam/Touch-Less so it’s only used when I have a really filthy car coming in which isn’t often these days.

Even before getting into detailing I was a gadget geek so I’m pretty sure one day in the near future I’ll break down and get the battery pack. Until then, it’s me and my tire inflators. It is Father’s Day soon. Maybe I’ll throw a hint or two at my wife.

You know, coming at this from a different angle--having a sprayer that works by pressurizing it to spray seems hugely inefficient compared to, say, a garden sprayer I have (that I use in the garden) that has a diaphragm pump. That will spray something like 40 gallons on a charge and I don't see why it couldn't use some sort of foaming head on it.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you need the entrained air for foam, or maybe it's because the IK sprayers are chemical resistant and the diaphragm pumps can't be made that way.

That’s actually what I use for my rinseless washing. I have the Ryobi 2 gallon battery sprayer and it gets about 20 tanks on a charge from their 2ah battery but it doesn’t have the water flow that I prefer, and yes, foaming is fun. That’s ultimately what it comes down to. I like to use my foamers and have fun when washing.

A wise man once told me that you don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing and foaming is my playtime.

Another crack of dawn wash on the truck. Love the smell of flex wax in the morning. Calling for a rainy Sunday, so figured get it done.

Following the deep clean on the new car the other day, I was putting the rear plate back on and noticed some spots on the lift gate and the bumper trim beneath it that the washing hadn't touched

Whatever it was, it wasn't etched, it had some thickness to it and was on the surface

I started gently with rinseless and got more aggressive with soaps, although I didn't try my 5:1 BH AF spray because I didn't want to have to pull out the hose and PW, and I even tried Tarminator because I felt it might be organic

Nothing budged it, so I tried a TRC Ultra Clay Scrubber with almost zero pressure and multiple passes with both ONR at QD strength and Megs HW at super strength, and even that didn't seem to do much

I finally repeated that process with my Griots synthetic clay disc and a super heavy HW spray and after about 5-6 go rounds with that it was finally gone

I got out my strongest reading glasses and a light and I didn't see any trace of the spots or any marring whatsoever and it felt super smooth

I ended up washing the entire area with HW because I had used the Terminator and made sure I rinsed it well

I dried the lift gate and bumper with my Ego and used some 3D Bead it Up and the area I had worked on was incredibly silky smooth

Sorry, no pictures, I was in super problem solving mode

This Audi was the first vehicle I coated after getting my coating certification. I’ve been looking to get my hands on this vehicle to test out Touch-Less v2 on a dirty black, non-farm vehicle and this one was dirty to put it nicely. As to be expected, Touch-Less pulled the dirt right off of the side panels that were covered in a nice layer of filth. The owner is pretty good about maintaining his vehicles but he’s started a new job and has been putting in crazy hours and has gotten behind. My daughter also spends the night there with his daughter so I gave him a free wash for putting up with my offspring so many weekend nights.

I also wanted to check the coating health. I’ve always wondered if coatings can live up to their durability claims. It’s got a single layer of EXOv4 and it’s been 22 months since application and I was pleased to see that the upper portions of the vehicle are beading water beautifully. The lower rocker panels are now sheeting but that’s to be expected after 22 months. I hit it with Touch-Less, Descale and Reset which helped the lower panels sheet a little faster but with all things considered, the coating has performed beyond expectations. I topped with Gyeon Cure just to give the weak areas a hydrophobic boost and to squeeze a little more longevity out of the coating.

Maintenance wash with hyper wash via bucket o' mitts method. Wiped it down with my topper concoction after drying with ego blower.

Got up early and got after it, let's go

Started with Bilt-Hamber Touchless in my Griot's Garage foam gun, let it dwell and rinsed away. Next was some Griot's Garage Foaming Poly Gloss in the same foam gun, damn that stuff smells great

Now it's fresh and clean for the rest of the day, the suns due out at some point today
