What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I know these are first world problems and I have the same issue with lawn clippings in the summer from my neighbor. I always rake them away

I have an issue with my mail carrier too. Man, all this flared up this year. I am dealing but sometimes I gotta vent.

just use the leaf blower and blow them back onto their yard

Yep, that’s the plan. He never even notices. I do because I’m outside actually taking care of my property. Oh well, at lease these grass clippings are only a summer thing here and I’d like to get more ground cover to hide them in a flower bed. Maybe I’ll do that eventually.

That’s exactly what I did while he and his two sons were bagging clippings. I would like to think he got the message by the look on my face as I was doing it but I doubt it. Some people just don’t give a damn.

It seems to me that those I encounter who do crap like this aren’t bright and don’t give damn. Double whammy

FNW...LOOOONG OVERDUE

It was so overdue I don't even remember the last time I washed it! To be fair it's been a little rainy, a whole lot muggy and been busy at work...but that all ended TONIGHT

I started by trying a new product on my wheels...Sudzlab XA wheel cleaner. This product is available at Wal-Mart, picked it while getting some baby items for my buddy's new baby boy

This product is 32 oz, comes in a nice bottle w/a great sprayer, so good start. I forgot the price but IIRC it's under $15.00. It says to use full strength on caked up brake dust, well, I could see brown on my rims, not CAKED ON but in my world...THEY WERE BAD!! I started by spraying them liberally, let sit for a couple minutes and hosed off. They actually came out pretty good without agitation, a simple swipe with my finger I could see "a little" haze, so I hit them again and used the Quattro of brushes...PERFECTLY clean

Next up was the pre-wash and without even thinking twice it was 4 oz of Bilt-Hamber Touchless in my Griot's Garage foam gun, dwell and rinse. The beading was instant, so I was now ready for the 2BM. For this I threw 2 Griot's Garage carwash pods into the bucket and created better suds, 1 does the job but two is BETTER

I rinsed it off, free flowing water and moved it out to the street to dry it off and leave it parked overnight, no sap getting on there tonight...or tomorrow as it's also going to be there Saturday night because I've got C&C to go to Sunday morning, a RW will happen before that show, even though I'm not IN the show

Tomorrow I'll be doing my detail on that rare, green ZL1 Camaro, owned by my buddy who owns Xtreme Graffics in Lombard...stay "tuned" for the write up/pics on this one, the wheels are always brutal, so those pics are always PRICELESS

I now understand why you are adamant about not parking under trees. I visited my brother in law and his house is basically surrounded by a small forest. It rained all night and whatever acid, sap, etc. that was on those leaves completely covered my car with a thin layer that clogged my coating. It didn’t even sheet water and this was after only one night of exposure. I foamed with three ounces of Frostbite for a pre-wash and then foamed again with two ounces for a contact wash and the beading was restored but I can’t imagine having to park under trees all the time.

On another note, what is the specific color of your car? I don’t generally like light colored cars but I can’t deny the gloss that paint job puts off.

These pine trees suck during the spring/summer season! There's days where it take a break but always comes back, not until the fall does it stop! I do park under a tree on the street but it's Not like those pine trees, one of which is dead, oh yeah, also some tree that produces these nuts a little smaller than a tennis ball...yes, I've got a dent on my roof, just like my blue ES had from it

As far as the color goes, it's called Cyber Gray metallic. It has pearl in it and as you've noticed, depending on the lighting, it's like 3 different colors

Being magnetic, will this only work on ferrous metals? So anything with fibreglass, plastic, aluminium, or, going high end, carbon fibre, won't get a measurement. Correct if I'm wrong, I've never had or used a paint thickness gauge.

I have never used one either, but i agree i think you are correct in only working on ferrous metal.

Whoa slow down… You should be able to buy 1 of those paint gauges for way less than that. Iirc they can be had for around $15 on ebay.

As far as them being good? I’ve never used one of those but when I researched them all signs pointed to them definitely being able to give proper readings and I did want to pick one up.

Yup, here it is, only $10 bucks. The way it’s described, it’s impossible for it not to work… I would get one.

[for only $10 bucks, someone could send Sizzle 1 of these and ask him to do a Pepsi Challenge between it and his fancy expensive gauge to see if they come up with the same measurements. I’ve always wanted to find out, and I’d bet money they probably would]

6AM Maintenace wash on the truck this morning. Finished with wet wax as the drying aid. Goes in tomorrow morning for a rear pinion seal.

Did a quick Idrosave RW on the EN before heading out to Hinsdale FuelFed C&C...I guess that tree doesn't like my EN either

Gave this serria a full decontamination today. This truck has been one of my favorite ones that ive done. Its pure black and flat panels that aee like a beautiful mirrior.

Just over a year ago i paint corrected and ceramic coated it with gyeon mohs evo. It was still beading and behaving like a fresh coating.
The frame and parts underneath are all painted and kept nice so i gave it a contact wash with a boars hair brush and a pump spray mix of labocosmetica primus 2.0. Exterior got a treatment of primus 2.0, adams iron remover, labocosmietica purifica. Finished off with N914 rinseless. Applied ADS ceramic spray sealant to the paint. Wheels got ADS amplify. Door jams cleaned with ADS adapt.

It will be put away until the Iron City car show in a couple weeks.

Got off of work a little early today and since it stormed this morning I decided to try T W O brand new products today...DIY Detail RW v2 & ADS Amplify as a drying aid on the EN

I did the RW using the GD method using five 500 GSM Eagle edgeless microfiber towels, 1 random mf towel for the tires & wheels. For drying I used my trusty Gauntlet drying towel...still THEE best

I mixed up 2 oz of v2 into 3.5 gallons of water and moved around the EN, using ADS Amplify as a drying aid and I can honestly say it was PURE JOY! It dried easier as my Gauntlet got a little more damp but...NO STREAKS LEFT BEHIND

Used the leftover on the tires & wheels and it worked great, dried VERY nicely, couldn't be happier! I'm looking forward to using v2 by itself to see how it dries, I expect to be no problem

I see Mike G just dropped his review of v2, timing is perfect as I just used it for the first time today, curious to see what Mike has to say...stay "tuned"

Man, I'm getting version fatigue...

It's great that companies are improving their products but you lose track of what version you have or is on the shelf somewhere for sale.
