What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I appreciate the info, but I am just about saturated and my attention span for all these new lines is about gone
I'm right there with you Chilly, I was only mentioning the other partner in "Detail Co." lest someone accuse me of giving only one of them credit.

So this time around there wasn't even a rinseless component, just the foam and PW rinse?
It seems to me back in the distant past when I did a lot more detailing, if I had a good coat of LSP on and the car was just dusty, that I would do a foam gun, rinse, air force blaster blow-off, and call it a day.

My mind says "if it needs foam, it needs the whole nine yards"

I don't see getting out the PW and foam cannon and not going all the way, but that is just my hangup

In a sense, I guess I do a hybrid sometimes in the winter, when it is cold and dry, and I foam up at the wand wash, rinse good, then drive home, let the car come up to garage temp (60 degrees) and then do a rinseless complete with a pre-spray

Can I clarify one point?

You are foaming first, then knocking off the foam, bugs, etc with the pressure washer as a step between foaming and the actual rinseless?
1. Foam and let dwell
2. Rinse foam; clears grit, bugs, cleans wheel wells, etc.
3. Contact wash with rinseless.

The Guz said whatever the last risneless he reviewed was going to be the last one he WOULD review this year; essentially saying he was tired of it

That is where I am right now with all these new brands

I quit watching Pan several years back, I can't watch EC, I watched one Jamie video and I don't even remember what it was about

If it isn't Sandro and Carcraft I probably won't watch it and I definitely won't run out and buy yet another bunch of stuff I will just look at on the shelf for the next however many years
Amen brother. I went a looked at the new Armour Phobic and while it seems like something nice to add to the arsenal, I already have a bottle of CanCoat and pretty much everything anyone needs to take care of any vehicle. I have what works for me and until a product comes along that will jump out of the bottle and do the work for me, I'll stick with what I have and know works. Hopping on the latest detailing trend seems to be an excellent way to empty your bank account.

I'll do that sometimes. My wife has been traveling a lot and would get home late Sunday evening with her grill covered in bugs. It would be too late for a full wash but I hate letting a ton of bugs sit on the paint so I'll foam, rinse and break out the Ego just to get me by until I can do a full wash.

Here is a video on the modified rinseless wash method. Only thing I think I would have done differently was I would have presoaked the vehicle with 256:1 rinseless before I started the rinseless wash.

That makes total sense

We have lots of summer bugs up here and luckily I haven’t really had any etching issues if I can’t or don’t get to them pronto

I guess your love bugs actually detonate on impact and spew flaming napalm or some such

😳

Well, as Optimum was saying, and in my case, it wasn't a substitute for a real wash, it was just something quick-and-dirty (see what I did there?) to get some pollen or dust off, and it was my hose-end foam gun, so no dragging the pressure washer up from the basement.

And that was back when I was younger and had more energy for this stuff, anyway. I haven't even turned on my outside faucet yet this year, but I hope to have some wheels to do, so, there is hope.

Honestly there are days that I feel like a full on maintenance wash will never end, especially as often as I have had to fight the weather this outdoor detailing season

I think with some thought and care this hybrid method could be just the ticket when the cars are mostly at the stage that a rinseless would be perfectly safe but the back end decided it needed to start a dirt collection

Someone remind me why I keep buying hatchback SUVs

So the 1st stage of the paint wash with the foam and the APC ( Dark Fury in the above case ) does not necessarily heed to be applied with a foam cannon. It could also be applied with a pump sprayer. Thus saving the trouble of getting the foam cannon out and actually don't really need a pressure washer. I just use the garden hose.

I'm sorry, I don't really get the hybrid wash if you're not using a pressure washer. Prespray, and rinseless.

This is what I did the other day on the back of my car with ONRWW at regular dilution and my little pump-up sprayer:

That was before I did the contact rinseless wash.

Yes, that's correct, it had rained once since the previous wash, and only lightly, so it was light dust and dirt from driving on one dirt road, as seen in the test pic I put up the other day. The foam did it's job and encapsulated the dirt, I checked the back door which was the dirtiest part, and nothing was left on it. I was also checking the MF that I was applying the Wet Wax with, it stayed clean till I dried the wheels at the end, when it picked up some brake dust, I didn't use a wheel cleaner when I started the wash. That MF will only be used on wheels now.

I definitely wouldn't use that method on the Qashqai, it has much softer paint, they may have similar protection on them, but the paint on them is so different.

i do this socalled hybrid eash everytime i wash one of our 3 vehicles. They are all coated so i go straight for the high alkiline soaps to breakdown all the crap, pw it off and all thats ever left is(if its really dirty) a light layer of film left for the rinseless to clean up. I love it. Its fast, simple and effective

I just watched the 15 minute Jamie the Cleaner video on the hybrid wash

Under his circumstances it was very impressive

I can see why you use the method and believe in it

I’ll try to get at least one completed before I have to put away the water hose and PW

I’ll use NV Snow+ for the foam and either Hero or ONR V5

From yesterday
Wheels and tires with Griot's HD Wheel Cleaner and TufShine. They didn't get dry in time to do a dressing.

Car was pretty dirty so it was a bucket wash with BH Auto wash. A few spots behind the front passenger tire needed Tarminator.

Have you checked out Chromatic Garage?

His videography skills are brilliant, makes the rest look like hopeless armatures with their clunky editing, tacky intro music and cringy intro/exit lingos. I also like how he lets his skills do the talking, with no agenda or an inflated sense of importance on display.

I always forget to mention him, and yes, I do watch his channel when I am looking for something specific

He is a quiet professional

I don't sit around and watch ANYONE'S channel anymore unless I am looking for specific information on a particular subject

Thanks

After 2 days of rain, rain and more rain, the EN FINALLY got some attention

Today's cleaning was ADS Hero and the GD method, no problem and the self cleaning of my Gyeon Q2 Pure EVO and last booster is REALLY working out

The tires have ADS Ghost which was applied over a week ago IIRC and these 2 storms plus a couple washes and tire cleanings...THIS is the result after drying the tires & wheels today...AWESOME
