What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Because I got a years membership on Black Friday weekend I paid $399 for 1 year that gets me 3 hrs a month. That said, because I used my 3 hrs on my g/f's TAOS, I paid $22.00 for the hour today ($30.00 an hour for non-members)

🤔
Air conditioning during the summer?
Vacuums, electrical cords provided?

If you did all of this in 1 hour that's better than alot of professionals that I know
You should make a side hustle out of this. At minimum you could test and write off products that interest you

You appear to be very sick with this disease imo

Well thank you very much! I'll be 55 yrs old on February 4th. When it comes to this stuff I've got 1 gear...GO

Because I had 1 hour booked it was also about time management. While the buckets were filling I was getting my products in order. While I was about to clean a tire and wheel I was pre-treating the next one, while the pre-wash was dwelling I was emptying/cleaning out the 3 buckets and my brushes. I don't like doing it this way but it ok, I've got the process down and I can hustle

I'd love to do this as a side hustle and I used to in another life and time, way before AG and before using a random orbital even. I did stuff by hand and interior work, I'd make about $2000 a year by word of mouth with friends and family.

At this point basic maintence washes, deep clean/decon washes and spray on sealants and boosters is what I'd like to do but being in an apartment means I'd have to travel and people don't want a stranger at their house, even though I'm a chatterbox and would put them at ease within minutes

Using a foam cannon and power washer hits different than a hose but I could still get results, just not as quickly

Focus on 3 year ceramic coatings. Charge 600-750 and you'll stay busy enough.
You should be able to knock those out in 4-6 hours
I get a lot of people who have paid 1200-2000 in the past and had to do without their cars for several days
I get a ton of referrals from these type of customers
They never go back to the other guy when they witness for themselves how easy it was for me to do it

Your underestimating what the customer wants. Most appreciate not having to hassle with dropping off and then picking up their car by me coming to them
It's not like I go inside and watch TV with them or lay on the couch and take a nap

Age is just a number. I can work circles around most 20 year olds

Yeah, I was going to mention those BBS wheels, those were kind of the high-rent version of the Firebird "snowflake" mags from that late-70's to late 80's era.

What did I do today in regards to detailing? I had to order a new backing plate for my Flex 3401. I put it away carelessly and delaminated the edge of the velcro on the backing plate (the foam crumbled, I guess it's almost 18 years old now). I'm sure it would have been fine still if I had been more careful.
18 years is an exceptional run for a backing plate
I doubt it was much of anything you did
The foam behind the Velcro deteriorates over time. I'm shocked you got that many years out of it
Those backing plates are EXPENSIVE! No aftermarket option
Good news is if you can get another 18 you'll probably be dead before you have to replace again 💀

Yes. The firebird honeycomb wheels sucked too
I would feel lucky when a vehicle had hubcaps

oops...did I mean honeycomb? not snowflake? That was so long ago...when Burt Reynolds drove that black Trans Am out of the back of the truck and showed it to Cletus...

#1...Honeycomb

#2...Snowflakes (WS6 package, 8" wide)

#3...Snowflakes (standard 7" wide)

Without looking it up I'm "pretty sure" I've got the widths right.

How do you guys post pictures on here now. When I do it, it says file to large?
I'm not sure, I've never had that problem, I'm sure a tech savvy person will let you know which adjustments to make
