What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Ordered some more Reset and leather cleaner today as well as nee rubber tips for my wheel brushes. They're lethal right now and have had to be super careful with them. Glad they started selling replacement tips. In the past I've had to order new brushes just because the ends are worn.

DIY RW to clean. Adam’s iron remover with a rinsing from the Ego backpack sprayer. Huron prep followed by two layers of CanCoat and she doesn’t look half bad to be 9 years old.
We have a similar grill. Not sure how old but annoyingly they don't make all the replacement parts anymore. The gas tank heat shield corroded thru. I'll probably just get some sheet aluminum to layer on top of it.

Off today. So took advantage of the warm and cloudy morning. 4-hour spring detail. Normal wash and interior. Went with a base coat of TWHS graphene flex wax. Really did justice on the black. Slider steps got the new TWHS trim coating/restorer. Found this to be a great product. Tires got Griots ceramic tire coating. Tonneau cover got Wolfstiens tonneau cover protectant. Wheels got coated with flex wax wet application. Feel better it has some decent protection on it now.

I finally tested out my new (at Christmas) form cannon to see to be sure it works before I wash something. I experimented by CG Honeydew at around 1:4 in bottle. I believe I can use a lower dilution. Foam seemed good for the wash in a day or so.

The wife decided to trade in her Telluride for a Wrangler because she missed having a convertible. The dealer know never to wash any of our new cars so I brought it home gave it a deep cleaning and topped it all off with Titan for now while the pollen is killing us all. Lol

I wish she would have gotten a funner color though. This is just blah when it is clean.20250420_111837.jpg20250420_111830.jpg

After work I hit the touch-free wash, the weekend was rainy and dreary, although I did squeeze in a good 2BM wash on Saturday, it rained on Sunday and roads a little damp this morning

Once home I used FrankenDetailer to touch up what didn't dry on its own, hit the jams and then cleaned the wheel faces & spokes. I finished with a light coat of CarPro Darkside, I'll level it out later

Time for a foam cannon wash. With all of the debate about Incredible Suds I used that instead of Reset. I put 1.5 oz in the foam cannon and that’s enough for a pre-wash shaving cream thick foaming, a second foaming to put soap on the paint (my personal preference) and with the remaining liquid in the foam cannon it was enough to pour into my rinse bucket to add some more suds. At the cost I get a gallon and requiring only 1.5 oz/wash, it’s an amazing value for me and my customers. There are more economical options but Suds is #2 on my list of soaps. It’s like that old song from that 80s TV show.

You take the good, you take the bad. You take them both and there you have DIY Detail………………………………………. or something like that.

Reset #1?

Lookin good. Curious to hear others reasons for thier preference of foam thickness...why thick? Im not saying one way is good and one bad, just always try to learn something or a different point of view.

I was a thick foam guy for a while when i first started using a foam cannon, but it was always more of a chore to rinse off. I believe for me the thinner/runnier consistancy dwells better and takes debris along with it, also easier to rinse.

I like it thick because it gives the soap a little longer dwell time. It’s coated so within a couple of minutes the coating has started “self cleaning” and the majority of the foam has run down the sides of my car taking the dirt with it. Rinsing has never been an issue with me. I mostly use Reset for my vehicles and it rinses off pretty effortlessly.

You know, something I've noticed with Incredible Suds, it has excellent free rinsing qualities. Likewise Opti-Coat M-Wash. That actually contributes to the cost equation as you spend less time and use less water to rinse.

Ran the EN through the touch-free wash today after work, between the base ADS Quartz and ADS Phobics used as a booster last month the self-cleaning is awesome. Phobics isn't a "booster" persay but something inbetween a full-on ceramic coating and ceramic spray sealant, it's just how I'm using it/looking at it

Funny thing though, this Saturday at The Bays Wheeling I'll be spending an hour in the wash, 2 hrs in the detailing area and I'll be stacking Feynlab ceramic spray detailer on it...just to see, this product caught my intetest and probably next month Collinite Beadcoat will get it's turn...how did he say it in Revenge of the Nerds..."IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT SUMMER!"

I’ve got Iconic, DIY, and Hero to compare. I will say it’s got a built in higher bar to overcome (ie He shall not be named) compared to its competitors.

Not familiar with Iconic, DIY is very good and I love Hero. I'm sure you'll wanna move through those before you'd re-order....or consider a suggestion of another one, if you felt so inclined

So the TAOS needed a cleaning...BADLY

Since it was so dirty and those annoying dirt water spots I reached for Labocosmetica Preludio acidic pre-treat, everything but the side glass got it and once again...WHAT A PRODUCT

Now for the actual RW I open a fresh bottle of P&S Absolute, worked flawlessly with Labocosmetica Preludio acidic pre-treat, the drying portion was TOO easy and the gloss left behind...STUNNING

The tires & wheels were cleaned with left over Absolute RW, simple pre-treat and swipe with designated grout sponge for this task left them looking like that, ADS Ghost here is only 9 days old but still

I took the grit guards out to show the solution and rinse buckets. The dirtier one is obviously the rinse bucket, the other one was used to clean the tires & wheels, that how it looked. I'm not sure where people stand on Absolute but it's such a great product, cleans well enough, although it did have help here today, leaves behind a glossy finish and dries VERY easily
