What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Karl is correct, that is an F Sport model, which adds a few $ to the price and ususally gets you racier seats, badges, a bit of handling improvements, and I guess a few bragging rights

You can get a lot of Lexus models in F Sport configuration, both mine are
The RC 350 F Sport config at mid $50's is a pretty nice car, IMO. Not a whole lot of vehicles with nice lines like that . . . plus it's a Lexus so it's (normally) going to take good care of you.

I browsing amazon and noticed a lot of microfiber towels. I saw a bunch of 70/30 from China.

The Rag Company sells a lot. They claim their towels are FINEST QUALITY 100% South Korean Super Plush AA-Grade Split Microfiber.

The China ones mostly say "split microfiber" but never heard the term AA-Grade. Is there an A or AAA grade?

Update: I did a better google search and the grade refers to the yarn quality. A/AA/AAA is highest and often used in clothes. The B, C, etc. are a less quality fiber (recycled., etc). Grade A are better are the premium fiber. Absorbency is also determined by number of twists in addition to quality of yarn. Korean companies have opened plants in China and grade AA yarn is available in China.

Yeah, I'm sure it's no mistake they toss around the "F" a little too liberally - not as badly as BMW has diluted the meaning of "M" but still needless confusing.
I think BMW did a good job of keeping the true Ms unique. The X30 m40 (or m50 now) is a beast but there's no comparison to the M model. That holds true across their lines.

I'm thinking the increase in the use of the M branding at all was a direct response to Genesis competition that popped up.

You say that as someone that knows the marque and their line; I expect most auto enthusiasts and of course BMW fans know the distinction. Many people, however, have no idea . . . any more than do the folks that see my Bronco and talk about how their brother/boss/neighbor just got one and blahblah when you KNOW they are talking about a Bronco Sport (good job, Ford!). I'm not confused by BMW's branding but you'll never convince me the intent of the expanded M-nification is to blur the lines for their more casual buyers (I heard William got a new BMW? Oh, it's one of those M ones, I hear those are good!). I mean, really, why even *choose* to use the letter "M" in a naming convention for something that isn't an actual "M"? The thing is, they don't even need to do that as the vehicles are good by themselves without the naming shenanigans.

I went 12 rounds with this Lexus. It was initially going to be just an interior and exterior detail but as soon as she pulled up and I saw that it was black I knew the paint was going to be hammered. The previous owner had an affinity for the scratch factory. I showed her what it looked like with my detailer’s light and she gave the ok for a paint correction. Still plenty of deep scratches but it passes the five foot test and the customer was thrilled. They were such nice people I gave them a complimentary CanCoat upgrade.

A thousand Hells await whatever jackass thought it was a good idea to put carpet behind the rear seats.

You won with a KO to those swirls

I TRIED to get in a wash off the water spots/sap stains before the rain but it just wasn't to be🫨

-Labocosmetica Preludio alkaline pre-treat

-Carbon Collective RW

-P&S Inspiration Defender as a drying aid

-ADS Villain sponge

-ADS large drying towel

I only got in the roof, windshield and hood before the rain came in, I actually LOL and went inside...then it stopped and tried going back outside, OMG the humidity

I was doing a QD on the Qashqai today, we've had some very windy days and it was a bit dusty, when I noticed somebody had a drink accident in the back, managed to smear something over the inside of the rear left window. Given they may have gotten whatever it was over the door as well, I went over it with Nextzett Cockpit Premium, then did all the other doors, and also the dash and console. Then I cleaned the glass with Garage Therapy One Glass. I did the QD with Bowden's Clean Detail, it's supposed to have anti-static properties, maybe that will help stop some of the dust. Funny you called out that pinstripe, DFB - I noticed it right away as well but I *liked* it because you never see good striping anymore (which I think this is). The thin red against the black just works for me with the lines of this car and the way the line is laid down. That's why Baskin-Robbins has 31 flavors! 😁 🍨🍦

Not knocking the pin stripe itself, rather what its been applied too. Same as the dorks who cut a hole in the hood of a modern Mustang or Falcon to fit a 70's shaker hood scoop.

Finished up my RW this morning after a massive storm last night

While wet I sprayed the entire EN down with Labocosmetica Preludio alkaline, let dwell and then sprayed the entire EN down with the RW (Carbon Collective RW) and then went around and cleaned each section. As a drying aid I finished off P&S Inspiration Defender, ran out of it and finished up with Collinite Slickr, both product were awesome as drying aids

Finally had clouds to help keep the sunlight out (at least until about 11am today) so I got an early start. Used a variety of products without much thought... it's been a few weeks since I've been able to get out. Just wanted to clean a car and use some new stuff.

I finished with two new ones from a small business in IL. I've mentioned it before and noticed others also trying them out:

The Final Details Car Care Fast Ceramic Sealant

The Final Details Car Care Hybrid Wax

Both were easy to work once I got a feel for how humidity impacts this stuff. I'm glad humidity is rare here but did enjoy no water spots.

I started thinking how I can handle a 5 gal buck to the side of my detailing cart. I do not want to make an opening on the top surface like you see done by many sellers since you lose space on top. There are bracket style bucket handers but need to fasten to side. I would like to have it fold up or easy to remove. It should not be too high so it makes the whole thing tippy.

About to head into the touch-free wash this morning to get off the morning dew and foliage, sap seems to have run its coarse

Once home I applied 2x's ADS Ghost Tire Costing because I did a deep tire and wheel clean last evening (ADS Tire Cleaner and Wheel Cleaner) and wheel protection boost with TAC System Water Flow. I did this because in the sun I could see brown on the tires and it took them right down to clean Michelins

Btw I also applied Griot's Garage underbody spray up in my wheelwells for a special finishing touch this time

Continued my coating project on wife’s mb. Having to do in sections before the garage temps hit 100 plus…Phoenix AZ temps in summer. Today was passenger side.

-wash
-clay
-perfect finish. My go-to with German paint. Not a lot of correction needed but makes the gray paint pop with gloss.
-gyeon mohs evo-so easy to use. Will last for years on this garage queen.

Time to get in some ac.

All I wanted for my birthday yesterday was clean wheels, shiny tires and vinyl trim that looks brand new. Griots Garage gave me all that. I used their Wheel Cleaner in their foamer for the wheels. The tires were cleaned with their rubber cleaner and dressed with their ceramic tire dressing. I touched up the vinyl trim with their Ceramic Trim Restorer. It makes the trim easier to clean. The car was finished off with Ceramic Speed Shine. The Explorer came out great.
