My neighbour be

My neighbour behind us has just traded his VF SS ute in on a new Ranger Raptor in the cement grey colour. I've only seen him driving it around so far, so I haven't asked him what his impressions are. At least he doesn't have to worry about potholes and speed bumps now.
I nearly died when I saw the interior, STILL no floor mats in the back and hasn't cleaned the interior since he bought it back in December.

It's done 5000km so all good to give it some, sounds good and soaks up pot holes 🕳 like nothing.

Being my older brother his very opinionated so it's just a "work car" for him albeit a $93,000 one, if i was lucky to win the lottery i would chose
This in silver with a ceramic coating on everything except windscreen,
And I would PPF the headlights or do the same to a Red Hilux GR.

It's free to dream. 🙂

Haven't driven the latest one, only the previous model that Ford screwed up by using the 2.0 Bi-Turbo engine. However, the most remarkable thing about it was the ride, the switch to coils on the rear and the special dampers took away that crudeness you get with leaf springs and ladder chassis. Desperately slow, but would make for a nice highway cruise. At least the latest model has an engine befitting of the Raptor name. How do you find that goofy gear selector?

Saw a photo online of someone using some harbor freight cases to organize sockets on socket rails so I picked one up today to try. I haven't had a great way to store them. Was able to fit my metric sockets in it but the plastic rails i have don't fit quite as well as the metal ones I saw someone else using. I'll be grabbing another case tomorrow for the SAE sockets and probably trying the metal socket rails.

I'm not a fan of flat bill caps either, but what gets me is when they tuck their ears in, when did that become a thing. I saw a policeman giving an interview on TV with his ears tucked in to his police hat and he looked like a child wearing his dad's hat. Rant over.

He had the the exact same in his 2024 VW Amarok/Ford Ranger share the same interior, it looks a little odd but his got the hang of it.

I fitted the same toolboxes on my first Ranger................................................

Apart from the horrendous ride quality, easily the most reliable and best made vehicle I have ever owned.
Yeah I'm liking the tray and boxes you have on your current rig,
And the coating... Powder coating right?

Yes, hammer tone powder coat.

I originally wanted another aluminum tray like the one shown above, which is the genuine Ford item and is used on other brands as well. You could option it with the integrated toolboxes and drawers, but the salesman talked me into a steel tray because it would be a faster turnaround (Cab Chassis models arrive in the country without a tray and if you chose the factory tray, its fitted once it lands in Australia, hence the delay). However, there is a local company that makes steel ute trays and trailers, so I got to go in and see what they offered in terms of toolboxes and paint finishes. I didn't want white as once they start to rust, they look awful, hammer tone hides that. So, I had the tray custom built with the toolboxes and the drawer. It's built like a brick sh.thouse too! The added weight of the steel tray also calms down the unladen ride quality.

If I did it again, I add toolboxes on the front as well.

That's sick looking, yeah you want some weight in the back on those rainy days.

Those draws are a great idea, just double check that you've locked it before driving off. I've seen a few tradies either driving around with them sticking out the back, or stopped while they pick up all the tools that fell out when they forgot to lock it

I also like the hammer tone finish, I've had nudge bars on two previous vehicles, and both time I got the hammer tone finish, even though they wanted to sell me the polished alloy, but they look rubbish very quickly, so I went with hammer tone which looks good forever.
