What did you do today non-detailing related?

I hope you know my original giving you a hard time was just tongue and cheek. Just having fun. But dang good call. That was crazy.

I’m a consultant and have been stuck on a conference call for the last 2 hours. I’m in East TN and we’ve had a cold spell the last couple weeks. Getting up to 60 today so will likely go out and do a rinseless wash this afternoon with Uber SiO2 Rinseless. Wash tires/rims with Meguiars D143. Tires will be dressed with Duragloss 253. Car is fairly clean except for dust spots on the back of the car from driving in the rain. “Coating” is CanCoat applied 2+ months ago and wheel coating is Carpro DLux applied at same time.

West Knoxville not too far from Oak Ridge.

I lived in Alaska when I was in junior high (Nome, AK) and high school (Fairbanks, AK). This is as far north as I want to live anymore. :)
I visit Decatur, Maryville and Tellico Plains every year for the past 17 hrs...God's country

The wife and I have been looking at houses/property in Blount and Monroe Counties. We just got back from theSmoky Mountains last week. Caught a little snow while we were there. When I left, N.J., I thought I’d be happy if I never saw it again. Must admit it was a bit nostalgic.
Sorry to hi Jack your posts.

I had a surgery scheduled for my left shoulder. No detailing for me. My shoulder is wrecked. Maybe the of February.

I've had both shoulders done. Bone spurs and minor tears in both. Doing well now so I hope you get it done and get better soon.

Traded in the Q50 yesterday to get the wife a new SUV. I'm "grounded" from travel at work so it really makes no sense for me to have a vehicle until we get over the covid crap so I'll just save for my new Toy ;) I think I maybe put 4,000 miles on my car in 2020 and that is just a guess on the high side.

I'll take over her Lincoln for a few months until then while she enjoys her new one. We'll then be getting rid of the Lincoln in April and I'll rock my sons little Corolla for a while as we go down to two vehicles. Pics of the new ride here after I get it all cleaned up.
Whaaaaa!!!! Can you share what you bought your wife or are you planning on keeping us in suspense until the pictures? Lol congratulations to her!

LOL! It's nothing fancy. Picked her up a 32k mile Mazda CX-5 Touring with Sunroof & Bose plus some other items I'm probably not familiar with given I wasn't hung up on trim levels with it. IIRC the Grand Touring gives it nicer larger wheels but I wouldn't want those this time as she curbed her 20's on her Lincoln and with these she won't likely do so as easily given they aren't low profile.

She really likes the Lincoln but the price here was too good to be turned down and she'll probably keep this one until the kids are out of college (son starts next years) and until after we move shortly thereafter. I may not get anything next year honestly. If my son goes away to school he may or may not take his car. If he does, I may get something small for my daughter to take over as she starts driving in fall next year and I'll bum her car if needed. We don't "need" 3 cars but if we go that route Daddy is making the third one his and it's going to be fun. ;) I can wait. The longer I wait the nicer the toy becomes. Last justification....once we're over this covid BS, we're traveling a LOT next year for some vacation fun. I won't need a car for that.

Pics of the detail on it coming soon. I finished up the full extraction and leather cleaning and coating today but will grab pics later. Paint work up this weekend. Going to love to see how the Soul Red turns out. The only real downside is Mazda has the thinnest paint on the planet. Ordered up some new CarPro SIC and intend on putting 2 layers of it over Cquartz UK.

I finally blew up a picture of my 1st car [1982 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz] to 20”x30” and had it framed.

To go with the other 2 frames I already have hanging up.
[this new frame is actually going to wind up on the opposite side of the room]

Hey, that turned out great! Nice frame!

Thanks bud. I was hoping you’d see it. I was thinking about sending you a PM just now... I went with your advice on which 1 to choose. Good call.

That's really cool Ric but I have to ask, considering where you live I'm surprised you aren't driving another one of those

Considering where I live? What do you mean exactly?

As far as those cars, I really do like them, and I’d give anything to have that car here today.. But as far as finding another? Finding the right 1 isn’t that easy. And when you do find a nice 1 the asking prices are so high combined with what most consider an unreliable motor, making it a high risk car to get into.

Plus I’d have to find 1 with those same wheels... Basically the same exact car. If I found 1 the same as that 1 then maybe I’d jump on it.

Well I mean you live in SoCal, right? I'd think out there you could find an older car like that because it didn't rust into the ground. As far as the engine goes, I'm pretty sure an Olds engine slips right in there and those are much more reliable than that 4100 engine (if that's the unreliable engine you speak of). Finally your right, those wires are CLASSIC! I really hope you find one Ric because I know I'll never ever have my dream car but you had yours and hopefully you do once again!

I don’t think it’s just that easy to slip an Olds engine in that car. If it was you’d see/hear of people doing it, but I’ve never seen or heard of a single person doing it.

As far as my dream car? For many years my dream car was a 98’-02’ Eldorado. I had a 92’ Eldorado that was slightly modded to look more modern and almost looked like the newer ones, so that was a great car for me.

For many years I had wanted a Deville just like the 1 I have today, so in a sense I feel like I’m driving my dream car today. I’m very happy with it and I honestly wouldn’t trade it for another at this time.
