What did you do today non-detailing related?

I've been a Type 1 Diabetic since I was 6 years old, 30 years in other words.

My control over the last week has been terrible, the yoyo pattern is hard to break. Today was extremely unpleasant. I woke at 20.9 (very high), dosed generously and was still 17.5 at 10am. I micro dosed and then at 12pm........................

I can certainly feel a 3.1, but the thing to note with the above image is the downward arrow, meaning the figure would have been lower than the that as the sensor measures interstitial fluid rather than blood. I was at the babbling stage and close to lights out on this occasion.

The problem with hypos is the inevitable rebound after eating to correct the condition....................

In both images, you can see how high I was this morning, then the plumet, then the rebound. Its been like this for a week now. Stress, activity levels, food, medications and insulin intake all play the part in these numbers.

The biggest problem, apart from the actual frustration, is the way the wild fluctuations drain your energy, leaving you fatigued and grumpy (well, more grumpy than usual for me).

That's not good Deyon, but at least you're monitoring it, and trying to do something about it. I remember before I got my blood pressure under control I would be irritable and grumpy as well, and everybody knew when my BP was up.

I'm on 4 separate pills at the moment, one is for my BP, one is for my Type 2 Diabetes, one for cholesterol, which wasn't bad, but they like it lower for people with type 2 Diabetes, I don't know if it's the same for Type 1, the last one is because I have a funky toenail, I'm hoping I can stop that one in a couple of months. When I was younger I used to laugh at all these old guys and all the pills they had to take, karma is a #####.

I get blood tests at least annually, if not more often, to make sure everything stays under control, but I was talking to my older brother the other night and he was saying he doesn't go to the doctor unless there's something wrong, he doesn't get regular blood tests, because he doesn't really want to know if something is wrong. Might be too late to do anything before he notices.

The funny thing is, it seems people like that end up living a longer and happier life. Go figure.

Not always, I have experience with 2 coworkers basically dropping dead. One was my first supervisor, back in about 1991, he was fine when I went to lunch, when I came back they were doing CPR on him on the packing bench, I had to go up the driveway and guide the ambulance in, he'd had a brain hemorrhage, he was gone from the moment he collapsed, he was 52 years old, now I'm 53 it plays a bit on my mind, but he was a heavy smoker and drinker.

The other was in 2015, it was only me and him working in the warehouse that week, the other guy was on leave, and he just didn't show up for work one day, I tried calling and got no answer, then around 10am I got a call from his phone with a woman asking me why I was calling, it was his daughter and she told me he'd had a heart attack some time during the night, they'd found him dead in front of the TV. He was 58 and also a heavy smoker, I'd been working with him for 15 years, to say I was shocked was a bit of an understatement, I had to ask our HR manager to ring her back and confirm what I'd been told, I didn't believe it. He'd been telling everyone he felt a bit wrong for a few weeks, but refused to see a doctor. Well that didn't work out very well for him.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be such a killjoy, but ignorance isn't always bliss, sometimes it's a timebomb.

Was out running some errands today, got pulled over. Not for speeding, this is a Random Breath and Drug Testing setup, although I didn't have to do the drug test, just count into the device and show him my licence. FYI our alcohol limit over here is 0.05. These guys will be a lot more active in the lead up to Christmas. Pics are captured from my dashcam.

And guess what I have to tolerate in town this weekend......................

A certain event called Spring Car Nats, basically a bogan festival where the gap-tooth yobbo's do burnouts until something breaks. At the end of the weekend, they crown a burnout winner. They hold this thing at the local showgrounds, basically in the middle of town, poisoning the air with burnt rubber and obnoxious noise. Police presence in town is HEAVY, especially so when a child was killed because a certain group of individuals decided to prove their manhood on the street. The event was nearly cancelled because of that, instead the most of the towel hibernates rather than risk the idiots and the police. I actually refuse to drive my Mustang or XR8 on during this weekend, just not worth the potential police grievance or the di.ks wanting to race you at the lights.

It's funny, people assume that because I like cars, that I would love this event. No, just no.

Some video content on this pointless endeavor.

Deyon, your not alone

I also don't like burnouts, wanna see that, go to the dragstrip, they do it about every couple minutes As far as stoplight action, well, I'm no saint, especially when I had my old Cqprice Classic and Grand National, so I'm not going to sound like a hipocrit here.

The event is held on a large skid pan, in effect giving those who enjoy that sort of thing a safe place to do it and keeping it off the street. But it also tends to give the young one's the idea they can do it too, that's where it becomes a problem and one of the reasons the young girl was killed on a public road.

I'm no saint on the road either, but the key thing is to do so out of other drivers' way. Living in the country, that is certainly a benefit, there are plenty of quiet roads out to enjoy your car without harming others.

It's the thing I don't get about drifting, the car is out of control and you need to control THAT It's all about an LS in a small, Japanese car (i.e. Nissan 240SX) smoking the tires constantly and having another car next to you doing the same thing, sometimes and it's just not my cup of tea, not because I'm 53 yrs old but rather someone that gets something entirely different out of being a car guy.

Went indoor 'downhill' skiing on a carpeted treadmill and finished up drywalling the garage.

It's been over 12 years since I put on skis and this was brutal. Quads and calves were worn out. It was much different than normal skiing, basically had to snowplow the whole time. My 12yr old daughter picked it up quick and was rockin' it. I guess it helps she's been doing dryland training for ski team.

Garage just needs shelving and cleanup, which should be done tomorrow.
