What do you think about my business card?

After looking at the business card. And with all the feedback, I came up with something that might work. Since the left side has a lot of poker feeling to it. Big Slick (AK) and the spade, I was thinking about putting half a wheel and fuse it to the spade. So the right side would now have a wheel and inside it would be Detailing.

So it pretty much combine what I loved to do.. Poker and detailing.

And I can use that as a logo.

I personally think you should just leave poker out of the look of the card all together. Just because it has nothing to do with your service at all.

I enjoy singing and playing guitar. But, I would never attach a guitar to my business card for an auto detailing service. It can be confusing to some. Nobody is gonna know you like poker...nor will it help convince them to come to you.

I would keep the focus completely on your business, contact info, web site, or any other key summarize info. That's just me though!
 
maybe add a 50/50 shot of the M3 hood you're going to do this weekend?

I really think a car image of some sort needs to be on a detailer's business card...

if you go this route, get a waiver signed from your friend, lest they come after you for royalties when you get big... :D

edit: does anyone have a 50/50 on their business cards? Ppl would look at it and think, "crap, that before half looks like my car!"

I also agree with adding auto above detailing...

Well my business name is Big Slick... wanted to add some meaning to it.


Give you an idea of what I mean... sorry for my noobness, my friend is working on it now. Picture the right side with a really nice wheel.

Although it may be hard to hear this is dead one. What is the real purpose of a business card for your auto detailing company? To provide essential information about the company/service? Not necessarily to display personal hobbies or interests.
 
Maybe above the word detailing you could add the word "auto" in the same font?
 
Hmmm. I don't know man. I hate to just come at ya with my opinion over and over. But I really think you're heading in an odd direction with that spade man. It's just strange, and doesn't need to be there. If it somehow added any kind of purpose to your business...then it would make sense. But it really doesn't.

I think you may be making a mistake that a lot of people tend to make when starting out. That mistake is trying too hard to make something "look cool". There's a difference between looking cool, and looking professional. Your card is starting to look more like a card representing a graphics artist than a detailer.

This is just an idea. Instead of having a spade fade into a rim. How about a before picture, fading into an after picture? THAT would make sense, and look pretty cool if you ask me.

I agree. One of the first things they teach you in a marketing class is to make sure your image consistently represents the product or service you're trying to sell.

Poker has nothing to do with detailing, unless you want people to think bringing their cars to you is a real gamble.... :laughing:

haha, good point. The simple fact that you thought of that, is why the spade shouldn't be there, haha.
 
It does look nice - and people are picking it apart like crazy..... which remember is a good thing. But if you are dead set on the Spade..... change from black to a more "clean color". IMO a blue or turquoise will sale more as a "clean" color than black.
 
I thought the spade might work because since my business name is Big Slick.. I can use the spade as a logo... "BIG SLICK" is always great to have when your low chips. So was trying to put some class into it by adding Spade to it, Since the left side of the card has Big Slick on it.

Nothing is set my designer has many other idea but I kind of want this to work... but with all these feedback we might have to go back to drawing board and figure something new.

As soon as I can get some free time I want to make it up there, I've been telling Joel that.

Slick it is helpful to have all of our opinions and feedback but dont let us sway you too much. Its your business, your card, your decision.
 
Slick - I always think about STARBUCKS...... because I get 1 or 2 a day lol! Seriously though, what does Starbucks mean?!?!?!? They sell coffee.... their logo is a damn mermaid lol! But they are top shelf and make tons of money! Sometime a unique name and a unique logo is what someone needs!

Thanks! Yeah I really like all the feedback. Maybe we need to go a different direction. My friend is going start again from scratch so I can have a few option to pick from.

Going show a couple business cards to a couple clients and ask them what they think about them.

I hate to tell you this, but only fellow poker enthusiasts are going to know what "BIG SLICK" even is. I'd never heard of the term before this thread. It would kind of be like writing up an exterior detail package description for your website that reads "ONR Wash, D300 via PCXP, OCW." Nobody outside of a detailing forum is even going to begin to understand what you're saying.

Now, if you feel compelled that you have to use poker lingo in your business marketing strategy, you could try for a tag-line like "We always go all in for your satisfaction!" since that's a term more people are likely to be familiar with.
