What is the best tire cleaner?

As I have said before. Whestley's will damage tires with extended use. It's an old product that works, but is very strong. May even be corrosive.
Of late I have be using Awesome. Which is also very strong. You can get it at the $1 stores. May have to do a little research on it also! Just my 2 cents!

I have been using it for many many years with no damage done to tires at all.

UTTG will darken the trim and will last for a long time. I'ts a beauty on trim! I'm not sure how faded the trim is your looking at. If its bad enough I would assume you need PB TR. I'm going to use some PB TR and some UTTG on a severely faded bumper this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes and my findings. I haven't used it on headlights and not sure about that. I use WG Plastik surface sealant for them. A lot of people use whatever paint sealant they are using for paint on the headlights as well.
The trim is actually not too bad. Cars are garaged at night and when not driven. I've used a few dressings that work ok and even the sealants and OCW help. I was just thinking that UTTG might be a better option. I tried to get a sample of the PG TR the last couple of orders but AG has been out. I'd be interested in your feedback, especially since there are cars out there that have faded trim.

I know that Fuzion does not provides good protection for headlights, as the lens started to yellow within weeks. I get better protection from Blitz wax. I use a plastic polish to keep my lens clear but I would love a longer term solution without going to the Urethane+mineral spirit combo when I finally get around to wet sanding them. How long does the WG Plastik surface sealant last for you? Had you considered the UTTG since it holds up so well in other areas?

I ended up using Power Clean (100%) the other day to get the Armor All goo off a friend's tires. I worry about damaging the rims with APCs like Power Clean. Do I need to worry?

I have to admit, Power Clean is an incredible APC but a bit expensive compared to APC+.

Use it on a cool surface and don't let it dry and its safe, even straight

I got some Hi Temp Tire Cleaner to try. Has anyone used it? Thoughts?

We have a lot of threads for wheels, but not so much for tires. I have good results with ARO, but is there anything better?

Well you're going to be upset, I used the ARO tonight and it let me down. Yes I wet the surface. I applied liberally to wheels, tires, and wheel wells, let stand 5 minutes (according to the bottle), scrubbed, rinsed, dirty. So I grabbed my P21S Gel, saturated the wheels, grabbed my bottle of Zep citrus @ 4:1 and sprayed the tires and wheel wells. Scrubbed and rinsed, all clean!

Understood!
Try the Awesome from a $1 store on a rag. Just rub lightly and see how white they get. I had white raised lettering on my previous vehicle. So I have tried this. I would bet if you looked closely you will see that the Westley's is making the black rubber light or grayish looking. :xyxthumbs:
cool thanks for the tip :xyxthumbs:

I haven't tried a lot of different tire cleaners, but I have to say ARO works very well for me. So far I haven't felt the need to try anything else. Here is a pic from my tire/wheel/wheel well cleaning last week. Look at all of the filth that came off...

I got & tried the Hi Temp Tire Cleaner last weekend. It works well but not as well as ARO. It dilutes 1:1 so it is less than half of ARO. I can save ARO for wheels now.

sometime not matter how much cleaner you use or how many you scrub it they dont seem to get spotless on regular car. anyone have this.

I followed the directions on the back of the bottle. I don't have it in front of me at the moment but it said something like: Thoroughly wet the surface, spray ARO and let dwell 3-5 minutes, rinse. I just received a suggestion to agitate it as soon as I spray it so I will give that a shot. It was my first time using the product so I have no doubts the problem lies within my technique, and I'm not afraid to admit that either. I'm always open to suggestions and new products!

LA's Totally Awesome @ 2:1 works wonders on dirty tires. It's dirt cheap and provides great cleaning ability. I've been using this lately.:xyxthumbs:

I picked up some LA's Totally Awesome this morning and tried it on a set of tires on the car I was detailing, its cleaned very good. I had some westleys and also purple power. I went in behind the LA's Totally Awesome to see if I could remove any more road film from tires. Nope, didn't remove any more. So, LA's Totally Awesome did as good as the others mentioned.

Did you use it at full strength or did you dilute it?

I use a regular rubbermaid scrub brush. you think I should get the brush with the green bristles.

Gave the Griots Rubber Cleaner another try this evening. Cold dry tires, no sun. Sprayed a very liberal amount of the product on the tires and let it dwell for the recommended 2 minutes. I then used my tire brush to scrub the side walls followed by a good blast from the hose nozzle. When I dried the tires and wheels off I could not believe the amount of black gunk that came off on my towel. This product was a waste of money. My gallon of ARO arrived today and I will be testing it this weekend in hopes of better results.Griots Rubber Cleaner was a very disappointing product for me.

Glad to hear. :xyxthumbs:

I've used a lot of APC's and degreasers on tires, and LA's Totally Awesome has become my go to for tire cleaning. Use it at 2:1 for not so dirty tires, or tires that get cleaned weekly or bi-weekly.

Is it safe on clear coat? I almost bought some Zep Citrus but I was concerned about possible damage to my wheels. Clear coat safe is the main reason I bought ARO and the Griots.

Yes it is safe on clear coated wheels. Just remember to rinse the wheels at all times when using any type of APC or degreaser, even if they say safe on clear coats (good practice.)
