What is the Best way to remove BUGS?

Thanks all for the advice.
I did my first wash and wax yesterday on my new vehicle.
I went to a car wash with the pressure hose and about 10 other options.
I just hit it with the high pressure wash/rince selection and then let that soak in a bit and then washed with the griots car shampoo and a mf mitt.
The bugs all came off easily from that. So i didn't need anything more than that.

Then I used some Klass AIO on the vehicle and it came out good. I was too tired to apply the Klasse Sealant Glaze. I'll do that some evening in the next few weeks when it warms up and I get the energy for it.
I did the wheels with poorboys and they are blazing away shiny!
That stuff smells good and was real nice to use. Same with the Klasse AIO. The griots wash shampoo I wasn't that impressed with. I think I will try Meguiar's Gold Class when it runs out.

Cool deal man, glad they came off for you. I've done some cars who drove from freakin Canada down here to Az...you wanna talk about bugs...good lord were those things covered. That was real fun before I got any decent type of technique down as far as removing them...scrubbin n scrubbin till my fingernails bout fell out lol.

If you want a really nice car wash that smells REAL good (to me at least)...try Megs Car Shampoo PLUS...its a higher grade stuff than the Gold Class...I got it for about $15 for a Gallon...really like it..sudds up real good and kinda lets my mitt 'glide'' across the paint even when its pretty jacked up. Try some sometime if you get the itch to try something new...:)

I gotta try some of that Klasse AIO sometime...and i've been very interested in Poorboys but man that stuff isnt cheap...maybe thats why they are called poor boys...you'll be poor after purchasing lol

The Klasse AIO is $20.99 and th Poorboys Wheel Sealant is like $15.
I think they are both worth it and a good value. For the PB a little goes a long way. Goes on and off real easy. 5 out of 5 stars from me.

As I stated in another thread...

Be sure to keep a good sealant on your car and the bugs will come right off. DP Poli Coat has done great at resisting bug staining for me, as has WG sealant.

Also, within the next few weeks there will be a NEW Diamondite product coming out which will make bug removal an absolute breeze! :)

I just received a sample of the dp cleanse-all exterior cleaner that is supposed to be great for bugs. I hate bugs but can't wait to compare it and the poorboys products. This is when the sample sizes come in handy.

So the poorboys that you're using, is it dilutable to your preference of gloss or what? I know with the Hyperdressing I use you can dilute it, i love that stuff...it has kind of a different smell to it....sort of a medicine smell lol.

I've heard a lot of good things about PB...I might bite the bullet and get some of their products as soon as I can spell able, but 1st things first...I have to save up for my rotary and pads....now the battle between Makita and Flex will begin in my own mind...which to choose which to choose...hopefully I'll find a good deal on a used one :dblthumb2:

The wheel sealant is more of a wax for the rims and not the tires. It keeps the break dust from sticking. Others use collonite 845 or any other good sealant.

gotcha...ive polished rims (i like my powerball mini!) but never waxed...my friends safari van had some pretty bad water spots on them. someone had messed up and sprayed blech white on the RIMS and let it set...and anyone who has used that stuff knows its 2 steps below acid lol. Some vinegar and the some Mothers polish brought them back quite nicely...I NEVER thought those spots would come out, but all of them did! I was quite proud of myself, never did any rims that were THAT bad before.

I have a nice leather chamois.
Next time I have to get bugs off I am going to soak it a soapy wash bucket and let it pick up as much soapy water as it can and then I will throw that over my hood for a few minutes and let the soapy water soak up the bugs.
I think that will work great with a good soft chamois and then just pull the chamois off and the bugs with it.

Please do not use a pressure washer to remove dead bugs from you front end, the amount of pressure needed to remove the bugs is enough to scratch your paint or even worse, remove it. If you have any stone chips (you do, you just went on a long road trip) the water from the pressure washer can get between the paint and bare metal or plastic and shear off.

I like the towel idea its cleaver. My method is to soak the front end, windshield and windshield header, a pilars and rearview mirrors with a liberal amount of Prestone Bug Wash ( it's cheap) for about 10 minutes in the shade (re apply if your front end is covered), followed by liberal soaking your favorite car shampoo (double stregnth). With some patience, the bugs will gently slide off your car, without scrubbing (and subsequent paint marring) and possible damage from the pressure washer. Patience is the key.

Rehydrating the bugs before removal is the best practice.
Wet towel soaked in carwash covering them for 15 minutes will do the trick.

The cheapest, and most efficient way to get bugs off your car is as follows:1. make sure you have a good sealant on your car,2. to remove bugs the secret is,with clear water, thoroughly soak the bugs,3. wipe off with a good wash mit.

I use...believe it or not...Pledge. I've used various products thru the years n pledge is as good as some n better then most.

pressure sprayer at a coin wash. Or your own pressure washer after soaking it with something like tarminator.

This is the way I do it. You can also use a microfiber cloth dipped in a Dawn wash bucket.

Just remember to reseal/wax after as the bug and tar remover/Dawn will strip off any existing protection.

I always just put soapy water on it and let it sit and maybe spray a bit of water to keep it from drying. Seems to work for me.

I soak and wring out a full size bath towel, then lay the wet towel flat on the bug infested area for 20-30 minutes....in the shade of course. The water will slowly saok into the bug matter, and it will easily wipe off during a normal hand wash with no extra pressure. I have been doing this for years on my motorcycle and helmets.

And teeth? (the sign of a happy biker) :D
