Hey guys,

I am sure I will be opening a can of worms here, but I am wondering what your guys' thoughts are on this topic. What do you think is the longest lasting or most robust wax?

I live in Arizona and own a 2014 F-150. It is garaged, but of course I spend 8-10 hours a day at work and there is no covered parking spots. The AZ sun really takes a toll on paint. So far this is what I have tried:

1. Pinnacle Cleansing Lotion followed by Pinnacle Liquid Souveran

2. HD Speed followed by HD Poxy (although I think the HD Speed alone would have been fine) - I was very very impressed with HD Speed

The AIO products are a HUGE plus because doing my truck (four door) is a real pain with how big it is.

I have some Collinite 845 and I have heard many times that it is probably the longest lasting wax. I am not looking for the best shine, but simply for the product that will protect my paint, especially during summer months.

I am tempted to maybe go with the Pinnacle Liquid Souveran followed by the Collinite 845?

What do you guys think?

If you want the longest lasting LSP possible, go with a paint coating. That will last you the longest time. There are lots of choices out there.

If you want the traditional LSP then a sealant is better than a wax. Seems like you already have one of the longest lasting sealants out there - Collinite 845. I wouldn't change that not unless you want to buy more product.

No need to top of your 845 with the liquid souveran. They're the same purpose (paint protection). Just apply 845 more often.

Cool - paint coatings are a little over my head and I think pretty pricey - I guess a good cleaner wax like the Pinnacle Cleaner wax followed by the Collinite 845 may be my best option.

OR maybe event he HD Speed followed by the Collinite 845?

Interesting...so clay, then use pre prep, then spray that on...I may have to look into that. Will one bottle be enough for a truck?

Sweet...looks like that may be the way to go then...

If you're looking for "wax" wax, how about products with lots of montan wax? It's pretty hard stuff and if you can get it on and off, it's supposed to hold on to the paint a little longer than the other natural waxes. Other than that, you're probably looking at combo products with natural & synthetic ingredients, or polymer sealants--if you don't want to venture into the various coatings.
(I was writing while the above was being posted. Looks like you have a good plan. Let us know how it works.)

Collinite 845 if you are looking for a long lasting carnuaba.

•First...Let me ask these questions
(Based on your above criteria):

-How long can you leave Wax on a vehicle
without buffing/(removal of any residues)?

-Have you ever discovered that you left
a spot, or two, of Wax on your vehicle
for ~2-3 months? (Note: I have; and,
it didn't hurt the paint one iota!)

************************************

•With this in mind, I'll suggest:
-Apply a coat of Finish Kare 1000P.
-Follow up with a coat of your Pinnacle...
making sure to only perform the buffing
regimen to the non-horizontal surfaces...

Now...
-Those horizontal surfaces will not have much,
if any shine (probably look craptastic); but I'd
suspect they'd definitely be "extra-protected"...
at least for ~2-4 weeks...or until the Pinnacle
has been totally degraded by natural and
man-made means.

-At the nearing of the end-stage of the Wax
~4 weeks (and after a thorough cleaning):
you should be able to see if the non-horizontal
surfaces received more damages, as compared
to the horizontal non-buffed surfaces.

On the other hand:
-If you're not keen on performing this
type of experimentation...Please feel
free to change-up the testing protocol
by adding a "buff off all of the Pinnacle
from all the surfaces" step.

-If so:
Then a re-newing of the Pinnacle...
~every 4 weeks would be prudent.

So why don't I just try one of these paint coatings are recommended above? Sounds like I will get at least a year of protection vs. 2 months lol

Probably because you asked what's the longest lasting "wax".

But sounds like your primary goal is to have the longest lasting protection and not care about the looks.

So the paint coating sounds like the most appropriate product for your needs.

Maybe people will be less confused if the title says "LSP" instead of "wax".

Sorry about that...I am a bit of a detailing newb although I have read Mike's book.

I don't think it will let me change the title anymore...in terms of these paint coatings is the one you recommended going to be my best bet? I may need to order 2 bottles

No worries at all. No need to apologize. Maybe you were really looking for the longest lasting carnauba wax.

That's just what I think...

I would suggest you try this first for 2 reasons, it's cheap and easy to apply.

After you try the McKee's 37 and get more experience with paint coatings, then you can try the following:
Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating
Optimum Paint Coating
The new Gyeon line of coatings

The 4oz bottle will be more than enough for your F150. No need to order 2 for now.
