So I've bought all this detail stuff and spent close to $700 to do everything right. So after I've detailed with the Porter cable 7424xp and WG TSR then some WG sealant finished up with Fuzion, what's next. Now I know I wash the car, I have a sea sponge, 2 buckets with grids, guzzler waffle weave towel so I don't put any other swirls in the paint. How long before I will need to do this process again? How often can I reseal and/or lay down more fuzion without polishing?
Thanks, John

There is no real way to tell over the internet when the next time you'll need to lay down more wax/sealant as it is all dependent on weather conditions, how you care for your paint, etc. Also the next time you need to polish is dependent on how you care for your paint and how careful you are washing. If there is no reason to polish, you can apply more wax/sealant at any time. I do recommend looking into a paint cleanser like Wolfgang Pre-Wax Polish Enhancer is absolutely fabulous for producing that elusive, show-ready wet-shine look. This polish actually enhances and to be used when there are too many layers of old LSP's on the paint.

I have a silver C6 zo6 as well. Polish it once, use proper washing techniques, and you won't have to polish for a long time!! It's verrryyyy hard to see defects in metallic silver unless they're really bad. I actually dislike polishing and waxing silvr because it very hard to see the polish on the paint as well as the defects. I feel like I'm polishing blindly. Same goes with wax application. I can't really see how much I'm putting on, so I'll normally put on too much. In the end, though, silver is by far the best color, IMO.

:iagree: Proper washing can prevent hard labor on your daily driver. My brother's girlfriend had tar all over the bottom of her Silver Hyundai that I noticed the other day and I was going to offer to get it off for her but instead she took the task on herself with a Brillo pad everywhere  Looks like I'll be offering her a compound/polish job now!

I agree with the polishing/waxing. I can't stand white/light colors for that reason only. I can't see anything I'm doing without a good light and the right angle.

Absolutely. However, light colors hide defects so well(especially light metallics), that it's a love/hate thing with me...LOL!

Hey John,

The frequency of a full detail is depends on an almost infinite number of variables. If the car is not garaged this means it's at the mercy of mother nature and she can be severe at times. Rain, snow, sun, wind, dust..... you get what I mean. A routine that consists of washing weekly and some of the spray waxes like Optimum car Wax will increase the time between full details.

One thing to remember; the finish on your car is only so thick and polishing will eventually wear through it! Yes, you'll actually wear right through the finish so a word of caution retarding detailing with abrasive polishes.

:iagree:It's hard to see the fruits of our labor. Doesn't look dirty much, doesn't POP after spending hours on it. But I keep trying to get it shinier & shinier.

I would add a coat of Fuzion every time you feel like it. Other than that, you should enjoy it. Likely next time you polish (could be six months to a year) you will likely only need a finishing polish and pad.

Now if you get the bug like most of us, you'll be stripping and trying new waxes and sealants just because !

There you go.

FYI, if nothing catastrophic happens (like a trip to the bodyshop and their "detailer" hacking up my paint again) I polish my car once a year. Never had it take anything more than 106FA. In between polishes odds are you will pick up some minor swirls. If you've got it bad like most of us find a glaze with some fillers. PB Black Hole, or Diamond White in the case of your particular color, would work great.
