Just wanted to get some opinions on what you think the best sponge, mit etc you like for washing your car.

I am using a wool wash mit right now but it never dries and is sort of a funky mess. I would rather have something that doesn't sit like a funky mess all the time.

I was thinking about getting boars hair or adams wash pad. Opinions?

Those ones with the stringy MF fingers work and dry well. Often I just grab a thick/soft MF towel.

I love my Lake Country grout sponges and can't recommend them more. I still haven't used my Red ULTI-MIT's, because I was disappointed that they were one sided. Otherwise Walmart has some nice dark blue MF chenille mitt's for $5 a piece that I use as well. Regardless of what you choose, I recommend picking up a couple of the soft yellow Home Depot Grout Sponges (~$1.50 ea) to use for the dirtiest lower areas and save the good mitt's for the rest of the car.

You're going to want to try several out. Everyone has different opinions and certain ones are better for your paint/car. I do suggest getting some cheap grout sponges, as A4 suggested, and using them on the lower parts/under parts of your car.

Thanks for the repiles and advice. I will have to try the cobra blue and after looking at the links and the recommendations to try the grout songes I want to try those and cutting them to make them cubed like the others. That would be cool is a $2 sponge can work as good or better then more expensive ones.

Still think I will try the adams wash pad while I am at it. :props:

The autogeek sheep skin mit does work very good but it never dries and gets funky inside. It's still a good product but want something a bit less gross when I go to use it again.

For the sheepskin mitt- Thoroughly rinse it in plain water, roll in a towel and squeeze dry as best you can, then let it sit for several hours to overnight. Then it turn inside out and repeat. The trick, IMO, is let it dry a little, turn it inside out, let it dry a little, turn it right side in. It takes an extra couple minutes over a couple days, but it won't get "funky". :xyxthumbs:

Great advice that I forgot to mention. I do this as well. It doesn't take very long to dry when you use a hair dryer on the hair and roll it up the inside against a towel. :xyxthumbs:

These mitt's (Yeti's Fist in my case) are like having a really lazy pet... :D

Hang the mitt outside in the breeze. It will dry faster.

I just bought the Mother's lambswool wash mitt.
I will try it out tomorrow am.
It looks very nice and well made.
I will use it on select areas of my vehicle and I have Target micro fiber wash mitts also.

I agree with the Chenille wash mitts...I got 4 of them from a dealer who lives near me..BOGO free deal....were about 4$ a pop or so...hold LOTS of water/sudds and i like the little braids!

For me...what I like to use on the bottom pannels is a sponge from Wal-Mart actually. If you go there they'll have some that are MF on the 2 big sides...and sort of a mesh type material on the thinner sides. They're only about a buck a pop...so I just grapped about 4 or 5 of them for bottom pannel use ONLY. I use the MF side for the painted part of the pannel...and then as the last part of my wash i use the mesh part on the very underside of the side pannels (the REAL gritty part). Its good for scrubbin off road grime, and for $1 each even if you trash one you can easily replace it.

I also have just a full MF sponge for wheels...its soft and gets into all the nooks and crannies real well.

Just my method, hope you find something you like thou!

Mothers Wool Mitt are nice but you will have to change them often.
Cobra MF Mitt is also great. I use 2 when correction a car, one only for before and one for after.

I got the Mother's lambs Wool wash mitt and tried it out.
It was way better than my MF wash mitt.
When you dunk it in your soap bucket it really picks up the soap way better than my MF wash mitt.
It just sucks up the soap.
Great product I highly recommend it.

I got tired of dragging a wet heavy sloppy bag of soapy water over my Truck... so I got a Brush and a Handle... and I can wash my Truck standing up, instead of being hunched over.

I'm strongly considering getting some Boar's Hair brushes for my wheels and certain areas of my paint/other cars paint. I really don't like the synthetic brushes..they seem to never come clean and wear out easy.
As for the OP, the next two wash-mitt's I'm trying out will be the Autogeek 2-in-1 Wash mitt with sheepskin on one side and mesh on the other side. My sheepskin mitt is shedding for the summer :nomore: so it's time for some new ones...might try out the lake country grout sponge as well as some others.
