Whats the story behind your first car?

My first car was a used 1972 Ford Pinto. It never really ran well..stalled and flooded. I was in an accident and it was totalled. End of story.

Next car....used 1969 Plymouth Fury (something with a bigger with more sheet metal).

Here I am reading this thread at 1:30 in the morning when I come across your post. I think I may have awakened my wife with my sudden burst of laughter!!

That mental picture is just way too funny.

Colin

Admit it, Colin. How many times have you wished that "DWHUA" was actually in the statute books? I needed that citation many times before I turned 20! LOL!

My first car was a 76 Gremlin. It was tan with a brown strip that looked like a hockey stick. It had a 232 straight 6 with snow tires and an underdash Pioneer Super Tuner 8 track player with a 200 watt EQ that I bought from a flea market. What a beauty.

I bought it from my brother who bought it from my cousin who got it from my other cousin who got it from my uncle.

I was the first one to sell it out of the family. It was a sad day. I had some great times in that car.

Very first car, (1975), I had to "share" with my older brother. 72 Impala.
My FIRST car (78)was a 76 MGB...mine, all, mine...lol

A little before I got my license I bought a comlpletey stock appearing '72 Vega GT with a 327 and TH350.

Mine was a 78 Camaro. 305 4spd. I thought it was bad!!! Always clean. My dad originally bought the car as a toy till my parents seperated. I made the remaining payments.

I got in a wreck and never got the car back on the road.sold it in 1999.

I finally got another 2nd gen Camaro, a 79 Z28. Thank god I couldn't have afforded the cars I have now when I was younger. I wouldn't have lived long!

1978 Mercury Cougar XR7. My dad was a mechanic and liked to flip cars on the side. He bought it for fairly cheap from a customer and thought it would be a good one for me. It was a rare one that had bucket seats, floor shifter, and a factory tach.

Wow, Im way out on this one,
First car I got to drive mostly was a Chevy citation 2 door hatch back (the back seat folded down,, perfect for date nights!!). two tone red and black (thank god it was a two door and actually looked pretty good cleaned up) I drove that car for ever, then for graduation mom and pop gave me the title and I was able to trade in on a >>>>>drum roll>>> 1886 VW FOX 2 door. Silver Metalic.
I still miss that Car. drove it from 86 till 95 or 96. I LOVED that car. ran like a beast with only a 4 banger, gas lasted forever and it had a great sounding stereo and a glove box as deep as my arm. (it held 30 cassets!)
My buddy bought a Fox a year later cause he liked my car and so did my oldest brother. the family out grew the car and it was getting thread bear, but man I wish they made another VW that good and COST EFFECTIVE.

My first car was a 1985 Mercury Cougar. Holes rusted through in several places, ran poorly. Got it for a couple hundred bucks. Had the 5.0L V8 in it, was a blast! Patched the body up a little, got it running good, really enjoyed it!

My first car was a 1992 caravan. I had pulled out the two rows of seats in favour of a foamy blanket And 2 10" subs. The tranny barely worked but it was some pretty good times. The party motel on wheels

First car was a 2002 Focus that i bought from my dad. It was my party/high school car. I used it to transport my friends around town on Friday nights. Sometimes there were more friends to transport than seating, so a friend or two would go in the trunk. It was funny, but now that i am older i realize the risk having 7 people in a tiny Focus. I sold it in 2007 for a G35 which got me through senior year in high school and college. I still see the Focus around town maybe twice a year.

My Dad (rest his soul) traded a rifle for my first car, a 1975 Chevelle/Malibu Classic. It was dark blue w/ a white vinyl top, 350 2 barrel and rusted out rear quarter panels. The day I got my license I went to Eastland Mall to get tickets for Ozzy and special guest Metallica. This was winter of 1986.

My first car was a 1976 Ford Toreno.
Tan, the car had just been painted so it was flawless.
Back then all I had was a rotary and No7 compound , so when I had swirls I polished it up and topped it with Turtle Wax Hardshell that was a sealant as well. Well that's what It said on the bottle.
So it all started with a rotary and some hard to work with compound.
I did like the No7. Polishing Compound when using a 3m wool pad.
That's when I first began detailing, this was in 1981. Lol

Now I use my DA for most jobs but from time to time I still need my rotary.
That was the good old days.
Now look at all of the products we have to choose from:)

sweet! Thats the year i saw ozzy and i didnt even know who metallica was! Can you believe that??? I knew who they were after they were done though!

1984 Ford Tempo. I inherited it. Unfortunately it was stick, so I had to learn. One of the most reliable cars I had back in the day.

My first car was a 71 superbeetle, I bought it when I was 15, worked with my dad to replace the floor pans, rocker panels and reprint it the factory blue. It was actually a really good car very reliable and even had a factory sunroof. It only lasted a few weeks driving it before the potential profit was too tempting and I sold it to buy a Mustang convertible.

I mowed my neighbors lawn for a whole year, to get a 73 mgb gt. I was 14 and lots of time to play with it.

It was an old road racing car in the late 80's , early 90's. Lots of extra parts from transmission, engine, and SU carbs.

It took about 6 months to get it running and driving with my dad and brothers help, and run it did! I never got the chance to drive it though. 4 days after my father painted it ( he owned a body shop), he was cruising in it, and got rear ended. He was OK, but the car didn't fair so well.

I've contemplated looking for another as a project car, but time is my worst enemy these days. Also at 6'3", 225 lbs, I don't think I'd fit anymore! Haha

My first car was a 72' Plymouth Duster 340 first belonged to my uncle who raced it while living in Texas (Brownsville) as did my dad with his 1970 Dodge Charger 440. Both cars did a lot of whooping. When my family moved to South Fl. the car was parked and left under an avocado tree for 10+ years just rotting. My dad asked him to sell it to him for my older brother to have. He drove the car hard and kept it dirty and packed with his friends. He later wanted a truck so my dad asked me if I wanted to drive to school (11th grade). Um yeah I do, so it was painted in some guys back yard for a few hundred dollars and off I went. Raced it against any car in the school parking lot that wanted a piece. Alas the car was rusting from in the inside out from years of neglect so I had to let it go.
Here she is in all her glory...I miss you baby
