I dont shop often. I have an Amazon account because of my kindle app and i have bought a few things in the past with no problems. Now that ive recently gotten the detailing bug, they dont seem to have crap in stock!

Im not opposed to purchasing from autogeek. In fact, there are a few items from autogeek im gonna order soon. Ive got some money tied up on Amazon gift cards id like to use.

Now that ive released my rant i do have a question to anyone who knows. Those prepay debit/credit cards, can you use them at the online autogeek store? The reason i ask is because im gonna have to keep how much money im spending on my new hobby a secret from the wife. lol. Would make my life a whole lot easier if i could just go buy a prepaid credit card from Walmart and order stuff with it. Thats how i ended up with the Amazon gift cards.:xyxthumbs:

I believe you can........I know how it is will the better half. My wife has to approve purchase orders...but I usually get what I want because I never question her purchases.

Detailing Money gets squirreled away in the rusty money jars.Just dig it up and hand it to her for my purchases.

Tried using up my $150 in gift cards at amazon. Ive spent a lot of time trying to find stuff ill want and use. They just aint got crap in stock. I did manage to burn up $100 bucks of it.

Ill be doing all my future shopping with AG. When I get some extra cash soon, ill swing by Walyworld and see if i can get a prepaid credit card and put a small balance on it to try with the AG store and see if it works. Wish There were gift cards somewhere to purchase.

I believe alot of Amazon orders is fulfilled by outside companies under agreement. Perhaps the retailers dont keep stock or cannot afford to stock items like Autogeek can.

Save the cards for other items, and shop the 'Geek.

I saw auto geek pop up in my query a few times. Was out of stock. :D

I suspect amazon.com uses the concept of line side stocking for a lot of products (those sold by someone by fulfilled by amazon) where the product makers maintain the inventory at amazon's fulfilment centers (there is multiple ones in the US).

When a product sells, amazon pulls from line side stock, ships, and then pays the product maker either for the product for a fee for handling the sale. The seller is responsible for maintaining the stock at amazon. This way amazon is not stuck with inventory carrying costs for unsold items. Therefore the product maker is not likely keeping amazon stocked.

From what I can see, they do it three ways, 1. sold and fulfilled by Amazon; 2. sold by someone else and fulfilled by Amazon; and 3. sold by someone else and fulfilled by someone else. I try to buy stuff that is fulfilled by Amazon, but I rarely have trouble with the outside fullfillment, I just try to take advantage of the Amazon free shipping.

Also, relative to another comment above, I do remember a lot of detailing products on Amazon coming from "Autogeek" although I think they may be referred to as PBMG on Amazon. Wait, I checked, most of the stuff is under Palm Beach Motoring Accessories, now you can use your Amazon gift cards and still shop at Autogeek!

I've made 2 orders on Amazon and the seller was Palm Beach Motors, which I thought was same as autogeek. It was cheaper ordering through amazon then directly through autogeek for the same products.

Sold and fulfilled by Amazon = return with little to no questions asked.

I installed an axleback exhaust system on my car. Didn't like the sound. Took it off and returned it for a full refund, including shipping!

Chemical Guys 407 items

Meguiar's 613 items

Scanned 10 pages of each and all items are in stock.
To filter out the BS click the manufactures or suppliers name under an item your viewing.... as in "Meguiar's"

I've been a Prime member for years. In 2012 I ordered 46 items. That equals to $1.73 per item shipped two day UPS/FedEx. Plus all the free streaming movies.

If Autogeek had a "Prime" membership fee with free shipping... I'd join in a heartbeat!

They do have a lot of meguiars and chemical guys products in stock.

Rrference to items they dont have in stock...
Cobra gold microfibers
Cobra gold jr
Fp400. (Dont even list it)
Carpro dlux (dont even list it, but does list regular carpro items, but nothings in stock)
Lake country 5.5" flat pads
Tuffshine tire coating

Whn doing a query, itll list most of what im searching for but very few items have been in stock. I did manage to spend my gift card balance finally. Didnt get the itmes that were on my priority list though. Hopefully in the coming weeks when i start shopping with AG ill be able to look for, find, order, and recieve the items im searching for. Amazon has been a disappointment.

I too am a Prime member. I purchased the prime membership last january when i got a kindle fire for xmas. It was nice for a while streaming the movies to my kindle fire. But then it got old and i dont even do that anymore. Plus, the kindle fire was so awkward to use that it wasnt practical to use for surfing and visiting forums. I do all my surfing with my phone and love it. My prime membership renewal should be coming up very soon and i wont renew it. I dont order enough to make it worthwhile. The only thing i really need amazon for nowadays is my kindle book collrction. I do like to read.
