Society is nuts. Lawyers as well. If people understood all the $$$ that are spent on HIPPA compliance - they may not worry so much. All those $$$ are passed on to the patients in the form of higher co-pays & premiums.

As an example, where I work we have 4 types of trash:

1. HIPPA plastic

2. HIPPA paper

3. "Hazardous" materials (this can be as simple as an alcohol pad or an empty Coumadin bottle- this is not medication).

4. Garbage.

Any "HIPPA trash" is always locked down in a locked container that is actually locked to the floor. You have to go to school at least 6 years to hold the special key that unlocks this trash. When it leaves, a fancy company picks it up and chain of custody forms are required.

An outsourced company is paid to "audit" our trash periodically. They actually get in the dumpster (garbage) and dig through my old Dunkin Donuts bags and pizza boxes searching for anything with patient information on it.

All this costs big bucks. No wonder healthcare costs are crazy. But rest assured, if you take an aspirin your secret is safe.

No that would not be PG County, MD. SE, Washington DC on a street once called murderers row - Got it's name because when drug dealers and other related murdered someone they would drop the body at the end of the street.

they last 11 years I have worked in the banking industry, jack of all trades. in past times I worked in IT, Managed retail stores for a few years til I got burned out, worked in the SID office of a University, banking is the only thing that stuck :) at least the hours don't suck like managing retail! pretty much wasted my education in Exercise Physiology and athletic training!

I'm really curious what a "private equity" jobs entails??? I Googled that term to find out, and got a bunch of junk web links & a Money CNN article from 2007. Maybe I'm just stoopid.
 
Full time student wanting to be a CRNA. In between I work at a BMW dealership and a VW/ Audi/ Porsche dealership meaning I get to drive a lot of cool cars. I definitely have fun at work.







This one only had 1,791 miles on it.


The not so fun part is unwrapping all of the cars that come in. Once we had 62 cars come in one day, but that was very atypical.

I own a Massage business (a legitimate massage business no happy ending...LOL). I have about 10 massage therapists and we specialize in Thai/Shiatsu Massage. All the women that work for me are from Thailand, Japan and China.

My fun/hobby is detailing my rich customers vehicles on the side. From Lambos to Rolls Royce's. I make a little money from that but that's not the important part...I have fun detailing for stress relief.
