what's your weather currently like?

Maybe you can rent a goat. Believe it or not I have seen that here in NJ. I mean I presume that's how the people got the got that was eating the grass growing on the street side of their fence.
I have heard that is a thing in certain places as well

Well, the sky cleared up, for today at least, and it was 43 degrees this morning

The furnace is running and fall weather is almost here
I love fall. Best time of the year in my opinion. Ive actually been eyeing up a new cold weather garment. Weather wool full weight shirt jac. I think id love to have a anorak too but one piece at a time lol.
Over the last few years ive moves twards merino wool base layers, now its time for a wool outter garment

I have a full array of Merino wool shirts and under pants and have been wearing Darn Tough Merino blend socks every day of the year for almost 15 years now

Anyone who doesn't like wool and says it is itchy is wearing cheap stuff made from chopped up or recycled wool and has never had long staple Merino clothes

Plus fall is hands down my favorite season as well

Love darn touch socks. All i wear on my feet.
Ive come to understand and agree with your statement about cheap wool after going down a bit of a wool garment rabbit hole. All from weather wool has so much interesting/great info on this topic on is blog on his website.

What is your top reccomendations for wool garments? You live in that climate so i would think you know best

I don't have a specific brand I would recommend, other than the Darn Tough which you already figured out

I have some tops and bottoms from REI that are good quality, and I would have to go look at the rest to see

I know I have been burned a couple of times by not reading the fine print and getting saddled with clothing that ended up being a Merino "blend" with as little as 5-10% wool and the rest is synthetic

I returned those immediately and learned to look closer

I dod have some blended stuff with like 50% wool and I feel that is a blend worth having, assuming it is a quality garment in the first place

Ill have to look at rei again as i have not looked theee in some time. My favorite base layer so far is merino 250 1/4 zip base layer from smart wool, 100%merino. Its not made in usa but i think i got it for like 30 bucks from serria trading post. I feel like i never take it off in the colder weather lol

That’s my favorite base as well, I love 1/4 zips and especially if they have a zipper left hand chest pocket

I still prefer a soft shell for outer wear and I have a current Army gore Tex final outer 100% waterproof shell for crappy wet weather

chest pocket would be nice!

Ive seen that type of garment worn on the show Alone. Looks to be a solid choice for that type of weather for long term sustainment, with wool underneath.

Cant wait for fall after all this discusion ha ha
