Hi all,

this may be a weird question but I am looking for ideas to solve my problem. I just moved into a new neighborhood where every house has a one car garage. I have two cars and a golf cart so the golf cart takes up the garage, my one car has the driveway and I left with parking my second car on the street in front of my house.

The issue is that the cars have chrome wheels. Every morning when I wake up, the sprinklers have gotten water all over my chrome rims. The car is a 2006 Lexus with original chrome rims that are 100% perfect and I want to keep it that way. I know if this goes on much longer they are going to get damaged and start to peel.

Does anybody know of a cover that I can put over my wheels at night and take off in the morning to protect them? I was almost thinking of something like a plastic shower cap (for lack of a better analogy) that will go over the wheel and stretch on to the tires to hold it on?

Thanks for your help!

We men tend to collect too many toys and not enough place to put them.. and then we have to decide what to keep and what to let go.. its just the way it is.. The golf cart gotta go . or you can go the cheaper route and use oversize garbage bags... not pretty but cheap and disposable and you only need two for the side facing the sprinkler so no one may even see them. yep ya gotta make a decision.. good luck

If the wheels are getting it from the sprinklers, what about the paint and glass?

Honestly, if you have no other place to park, then I would adjust the sprinkler timers to go on at a time that you are usually not parked there.

I vote for putting a bag over the sprinkler. Putting bags on my wheels everyday would not be an option. Put the golf cart on the street or in the driveway or on the grass, no point in risking my personal vehicles over a golf cart.

Thank you for all the replies…I live in an HOA club that they control all the sprinklers maybe I will see if I can sneak on a cap or something.

I am faced with the dilemma because golf carts are not allowed to be kept outside overnight and I need my own cart to be able to play golf. Giving up golf is not an option I love my cars but I love golf too!

Might have to invest in two of those wheel covers. I am too attached to both cars to get loose one.

if it's a ls 430 I would cover them. Those wheels are prone to peel.

Very easy fix.....
Red Solo cup and a rock.
Step 1. Place Cup over sprinkler
Step 2. Place Rock on Cup

Problem solved ;)

What about a small back yard shed just big enough to keep the golf cart in? Or does the HOA ban those too?

Trying to think outside the box here, so don't shoot the messenger.
Does your HOA have any storage space (i.e. where they store the lawn equipment) that you can rent to store the Golf Cart? How could they ever turn down nearly free money?

Problem, as stated by others, is going to be the water spots. Type I & Type II will form because of the mineral deposits in the water. You'll have one heck of a time not just getting the water spots off the rims, but the paint too.

There is one sprinkler that is right next to where I park in the driveway (Similar issue.... Not a golf cart, but a VW Golf sits in the single car garage)

So I made a plastic cover for that sprinkler that stakes down. It doesn't cover it completely, just diverts anything that would spray onto my car. Problem solved.
