Hi all, I'm new here but have a question right away.

Is there anything better than (in protection, longevity, etc.) the actual brand "Wheel Wax" for painted (from factory, or self/shop) wheels.

I've used this in the past, and it was OK, but it seems that it absorbs A LOT of moisture over time (in the container) and gets this very funky smell that makes me not even want to use it anymore.

It is even worse than the acrid/acidic fermented 'vinegar' smell that Meguiars Gold Class paste gets when it goes bad, or gets moldy from moisture intrusion in the container.

Would either Collinite 476S, or Insulator Wax protect and last as long as (or hopefully longer than) the Wheel Wax on painted wheels???

TIA

4x for dp,cleans real well and gives a great look to my cc wheels. also just tried my klasse twins(since i used powerlock on the paint this time) and it looks good as well.

Big fan of Poor Boys here works great and easy to apply and remove

DP and Poorboys offer nice wheel sealants indeed, and Opti-seal is a nice choice too.

Is there any real benefit to an actual wheel wax / sealant over a standard paint wax / sealant, seems to me like there really isn't a need for it?

I have been using Meguiar's #21 2.0 synthetic sealant now for about two years on rims and absolutely love it. It lasts a long time and leaves the rims looking really good.

I think you'd be fine using a paint sealant in place of a wheel sealant. I would be more concerned with a wax as the heat generated by and around the wheels would likely breakdown the protection quickly.

I like DG105 over DG 601. If your wheels are painted any paint sealant will do. I know most on here prefer DP or PB, but IME DG 105 over DG 601 is as durable as anything on my chrome wheels..

I use smartwax wheel wax, awesome product and has a grape smell

Duragloss 501 is a great protectant for wheels.

Exactly, waxes are less useful on wheels.

That's why I use Collinite Insulator wax for wheels. It'll still last for at least 5+ months with regular cleaning using only carwash shampoo and a soft brush.
